WISZ Mourns with Madam Annie Namukanga Musonda

WISZ President Col. Priscilla Katoba is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Musonda, husband to Madam Annie Namukanga Musonda, WISZ Deputy General Secretary (DGS), who passed away in the early hours of today 26/07/2026.

On behalf of the entire Women in Soccer Zambia (WISZ) family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Madam Annie and her family during this difficult time. We share in your grief and stand with you in prayer, love, and support as you mourn this great loss.

May the Almighty God grant the family strength, comfort, and peace, and may the soul of the departed rest in eternal peace.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT BY WOMEN IN SOCCER ZAMBIA (WISZ)

-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-

Women in Soccer Zambia (WISZ) wishes to inform and enlighten its members, stakeholders, and the general public regarding the existence, purpose, and leadership of our non-governmental organization (NGO).

As an organization committed to the advancement of women and girls in football and sport, we believe it is important to provide factual clarification and correct several misconceptions.

Firstly, Women in Soccer Zambia (WISZ) is an independent, non-governmental organization established in 2018 with a clear vision of promoting the participation, empowerment, mentorship, leadership, and development of women and girls through football and related activities. WISZ does not claim to be a governing body, regulatory authority, or replacement for the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ). Its role is complementary and developmental in nature.

Secondly, the use of the word "Soccer" in the organization's name is neither new nor unusual. Across the world, numerous respected organizations continue to use the term "soccer" while remaining fully committed to the global game governed by FIFA. The choice of name reflects the identity under which the organization was established and registered and should not be interpreted as an attempt to create a parallel football governing structure.

Thirdly, WISZ was not created by FAZ, nor does it purport to be a FAZ committee, association, or constitutional organ. It exists as an independent platform that brings together women involved in football and sport for purposes of advocacy, mentorship, networking, leadership development, education, and community engagement.

It is therefore inaccurate to suggest that WISZ is operating as an unauthorized football governing body or attempting to duplicate the constitutional functions of FAZ. The governance, administration, and regulation of football in Zambia remain the mandate of the Football Association of Zambia and its recognized structures.

Regarding the participation of individuals who may hold positions within football institutions or other organizations, it is important to recognize that citizens retain the right to associate freely and contribute to developmental initiatives, provided such involvement does not conflict with existing laws, regulations, or organizational obligations.

Women in Soccer Zambia remains committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders who share the goal of advancing opportunities for women and girls in football. We believe that constructive dialogue, mutual respect, and accurate information are essential for the growth of the game.

We therefore encourage all stakeholders to seek clarification directly from the organization whenever questions arise rather than relying on assumptions or incomplete information.

WISZ remains focused on its mission of empowering women and girls through football, leadership, education, mentorship, and community development.

COLONEL PRISCILLA KATOBA CALLS FOR FAIR PLAY AHEAD OF FIFA OLYMPIC QUALIFIER IN MOROCCO.

Casablanca, Morocco – June 7th 2026.

FAZ National Women's Football Representative, President of Women in Soccer Zambia (WISZ), and FIFA Match Commissioner Colonel Priscilla Katoba has called on all participating teams and match officials to uphold the principles of fair play and professionalism ahead of the Women's Preliminary Competition of the Olympic Football Tournaments Los Angeles 2028 African Zone Qualifier between Comoros and Sudan.

Speaking during the official morning briefing attended by team representatives and match officials in Casablanca, Morocco, Colonel Katoba emphasized the importance of adhering to the rules and regulations governing international football as stipulated by FIFA and CAF.

She encouraged all stakeholders to conduct themselves with integrity, respect, and professionalism throughout the match, stressing that football should always be played in the spirit of fair competition.

Colonel Katoba further wished both teams success and expressed her hope for an exciting and competitive encounter, stating that the better-performing team on the day should earn victory through merit and fair play.

The experienced football administrator is in Morocco on official FIFA duty as Match Commissioner for the Olympic qualifier fixture. She is also serving as Head of Delegation during the assignment.

Her appointment by FIFA continues to highlight Zambia's growing contribution to international football administration and reflects the confidence that global football bodies have in her leadership and expertise.

"Let football be decided on the field of play through respect for the rules, fair competition, and sportsmanship. May the best team carry the day," Colonel Katoba told the gathering.

It is with profound sadness that I have received the heartbreaking news of the passing of Getrude Kaila, a player from Twikatane FC competing in the FAZ Lusaka Province Women’s League, who passed away this morning.

On behalf of myself, in my capacity as FAZ National Women’s Football Representative and President of Women in Soccer Zambia, I wish to extend my deepest and heartfelt condolences to her family, teammates, friends, and the entire Twikatane FC family during this difficult time.

The women’s football fraternity has lost a young athlete whose passion and dedication to the game will always be remembered. Her contribution to the growth of women’s football will never be forgotten.

May the Almighty grant strength and comfort to all those mourning her loss, and may her soul rest in eternal peace. 🕊️

Women In Soccer Zambia(WISZ) this morning found time to deliver a small token of comfort and support to the mother of the late Gift Theresa Chilufya Musatila during this difficult and painful period.

Though no words can truly ease the pain of such a heartbreaking loss, this gesture was made as a sign of solidarity, compassion, and love from the women’s football family.

Gift’s passing remains a devastating loss to Zambian football, but her memory and impact will forever live on in the hearts of many.

May her soul continue to rest in eternal peace.
