What do children need to learn and thrive?

🛠️ We're scoping our next school build projects, spending time with communities, school leaders and representatives from the Ministry of Education to understand where support could make the greatest difference.

🏫 The classroom pictured below is one we recently visited. In some schools, crowded classrooms mean children are learning in challenging conditions. In other, safe latrines are the greatest need, while some schools need teachers' accommodation to help attract and retain skilled staff.

🚚 We also have to consider the practical realities of delivering a project - from road access and transporting materials to planning around the rainy season. Understanding these conditions helps us ensure every project is achievable, sustainable and built to last.

One of the hardest parts of scoping is knowing that there are more schools in need than we can support. These conversations help us understand where investment could make the biggest difference for children and their communities.

💬 What does it take to be the first female Principal of Zambia's National Council for Construction School?

Our thanks to Wendy Nambule Mukape for sharing her journey from Quantity Surveyor to construction leader in our latest Pamodzi blog.

Wendy's passion for supporting young people and creating opportunities for more women in the industry shines through. Her story is a powerful reminder that talent knows no gender, and that diverse leadership can help build a stronger future for Zambia's construction sector.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our London reception this week. It was great to see so many familiar and new faces 😊

The highlight of the evening was hearing from one of our graduates Elias Chalumbila, who joined live from Zambia alongside our Country Director Chilufya Kasutu (pictured left on screen, with Elias in green on the right).

Elias trained with us in 2022. Today, he's working and thriving - he’s taking on jobs, developing his skills and employing others. An incredible young man, and a real credit to everything he’s achieved - kudos! 👏👏

And we celebrate every young person who has gone through our training programme. We know that stepping into the world of work isn’t easy, and right now it can feel especially tough.

To all the young people working hard to build their futures: we see you, we’re proud of you, and we’re sending you lots of courage and belief 💪✨

Thank you to everyone who continues to support young people in Zambia 🧡
