πŸ’¬ What does it take to be the first female Principal of Zambia's National Council for Construction School?

Our thanks to Wendy Nambule Mukape for sharing her journey from Quantity Surveyor to construction leader in our latest Pamodzi blog.

Wendy's passion for supporting young people and creating opportunities for more women in the industry shines through. Her story is a powerful reminder that talent knows no gender, and that diverse leadership can help build a stronger future for Zambia's construction sector.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dedicated Trustee Mr Wilson Sumaili, following a short illness.

Wilson will be remembered as a wise and compassionate leader who generously shared his knowledge, experience and guidance with others. He was a true advocate and expert in the field of vocational skills training. His commitment and contribution to Build It's work over many years have left a lasting legacy.

Wilson will be greatly missed. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

May he rest in eternal peace.

Last week, the Reheatz - Recovering Embedded Heat in Zambian Food Production project reached an exciting milestone with the official launch of the heat recovery system at Zambeef Huntley Farm in Chisamba.

As one of the project partners, Build It is proud to have supported six of our graduates to contribute directly to this innovative green energy initiative.

Our graduates helped construct the hot well and supported the installation of a system that recovers and reuses waste heat. This helps to reduce energy use, lower costs and cut carbon emissions in food production.

The launch was made even more special when the graduates received certificates recognising their hard work and dedication πŸ‘ Their success shows what is possible when young people are given the skills, experience and opportunity to thrive πŸ› οΈπŸ’š

Congratulations to Precious, Peter, Previous, Enock, Justin and Cloud πŸ‘πŸ‘

And thank you to all REHEATZ partners - Trinity College Dublin, Southern African Institute for Policy and Research and Zambeef Products Plc. This achievement is a powerful example of how collaboration can create pathways into green jobs while delivering practical solutions for a more sustainable future 🌱

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our London reception this week. It was great to see so many familiar and new faces 😊

The highlight of the evening was hearing from one of our graduates Elias Chalumbila, who joined live from Zambia alongside our Country Director Chilufya Kasutu (pictured left on screen, with Elias in green on the right).

Elias trained with us in 2022. Today, he's working and thriving - he’s taking on jobs, developing his skills and employing others. An incredible young man, and a real credit to everything he’s achieved - kudos! πŸ‘πŸ‘

And we celebrate every young person who has gone through our training programme. We know that stepping into the world of work isn’t easy, and right now it can feel especially tough.

To all the young people working hard to build their futures: we see you, we’re proud of you, and we’re sending you lots of courage and belief πŸ’ͺ✨

Thank you to everyone who continues to support young people in Zambia 🧑
