Art Education is important and forms the foundation for every artist.

Often the educational part of the arts is always overlooked and therefore limiting career choices for the young artists who are still in school. There is no push to ensure that the arts are being given time in the school system and program.

If we have artists who are skilled and semi qualified to coordinate on the field programs and Art Centre programs, we can curb the unemployment rate by Introducing them in the schools, to teach the Arts. There isnt a better way to teach art than having it being taught by an artist.

We will increase the creativity capacity of these Artists.
We will be equipping our kids with informed career choices.
This will provide permanent/temporary employment for Artists.

The vision is clear.
The mission is dear to our hearts.

Pass the message to those who share the vision. Those artists who wonder where or what will they do next.

Art Administration is a problem to our communities. We are faced with Artistic leaders who lack the know how on running a succesful and growing Art Organizations.

We urge and encourage all our members and student to learn and get involved in the Administrative side of things.

We have seen an influx of Call for Proposals from the NAC; Mmabana and PESP which is on its 3rd stage. But because our Artists are concerned about being famous and forget to secure a future for them an develop the arts in the process, they failed to apply for these funding opportunities.

We have many struggling Art groups and Organizations that just enjoy grouping kids without any prospect of future plans or productions.

As Chairperson of TYD, should YOU feel that we are failing the kids and have no plans for their talents, please say it. So we can focus on the future plans.

We right this because we have noticed the gap and wish to resolve it.

We are looking for Out of School and Unemployed Artists to help us advance our programs.
Those who are skilled not necessarily qualified in the following:
Crafts(go-betla; go-penta; go-bopa; go-loga le go dira ka dibaga)
Music (rap; singing - traditional singers)
Dance (urban dance; hip hop and gumboots)

We ask the whole community of Gopane to rally behind us and to help us run and manage a succesful Art Organization. This is the beginning and it all starts at home.

Note from the Chair
We thank you
