While participating in a restoration practitioners networking event held at Grootvadersbosch (GVB) Conservancy during February 2025. We had the privilege of joining GVB restoration project manager on a evening walk through the Afromontane forest to visit the redwood trees introduced as a source of timber in the 1920's.
Redwoods are native to California and Oregon in the USA and were first introduced to South in 1885. The stand in GVB Conservancy are recognised as Champion Trees due to their size and historical value.
