Goal:
To safeguard the survival, protection and holistic development of the disabled child. The promotion of full integration and independence of children with disabilities. To participate in the changes of restrictive legislation and development of disability friendly policies. The mobilization of parents of children with disabilities and raising awareness on the rights of their children and stra
tegies to lobby for those rights. Participate in networking with other similar organization on disability issues. Objectives:
To interact with existing institutions such as Government Departments on the rights of children with disabilities to find an acceptable approach in dealing with issues that affects the disabled child. To continue with making input in the review of government legislation and policies that affect disabled children. To review and design programs that will benefit children with disabilities and prepare them for full integration into society. To continue with capacity building programs of parents in both Advocacy and Development. To facilitate education of decision makers with strategic institutions such as Education, Health, Social Development and Corporate sector on the needs of children with disabilities. To conduct information sharing seminars with local branches of parents on progress made with regard to their participation in advocacy work. To prepare material that will aggressively DICAG on the local and international market. To continue to raise funds to support DICAG Programs at national and promotional level. To continue to network with strategic organization within the disability sector. Membership:
Membership is individual. Any person who is a parent or guardian of a disabled child can affiliate as a member. Children with disabilities also form part of the membership structure. Any other interested individual, organization, school or daycare center may also affiliate to DICAG but do not have any voting powers on the local, provincial or national structures.
