WELCOME LAYLAA! ✨

Living Through Learning is delighted to welcome Laylaa Jacobs, our newest Facilitator, to the LTL family! 💜📚

For Laylaa, one of the most rewarding parts of working with children is experiencing their honesty, curiosity and those special little “aha!” moments when learning suddenly comes alive. 🌟

She hopes to make a difference by creating a safe and patient space where every child feels seen, heard and supported, because when children feel safe, they have the confidence to learn, grow and discover just how capable they are.

As she begins this new journey with us, Laylaa says she is looking forward to learning and growing alongside a passionate team, sharing ideas, supporting one another and working together to give our learners the very best. ❤️

Welcome to Living Through Learning, Laylaa! We’re so excited to have you as part of the team and look forward to seeing the impact you’ll make in the lives of our young learners. 💜💛

A moment we’ll never forget!
Throwing it back to our International Literacy Day

2026 celebration: African Story Time at Hillwood Primary School. 🌍❤️

Through music, movement and storytelling, we watched our learners experience literacy in a way that was joyful, creative and unforgettable.
These moments remind us that education is not only about what children learn it’s about what they feel. The confidence to participate, the freedom to imagine, and the belief that their stories matter. 📚✨

But experiences like these are only possible because of people and organisations who believe in the power of literacy and the future of our children.
As we continue creating meaningful opportunities for learners and schools, we invite you to partner with Living Through Learning.
Your contribution can help us bring more literacy experiences, resources and support to children who need it most. 💛

Together, we can help open doors through the power of reading.

📩 Join us in making a lasting impact.

📚What if one story could change the way a child sees their future?

This International Literacy Day, we watched stories become more than words on a page.

We watched children listen. Laugh. Imagine. Participate. Believe. ❤️

At Hillwood Primary School, our African Story Time reminded us why literacy matters because when a child learns to love reading, we are not simply teaching them words. We are opening doors to confidence, imagination, learning and possibility.

But this cannot end with one beautiful day.

At Living Through Learning, we want to create more moments like this and bring meaningful, sustained literacy support to even more children and school communities. 📖🌍

We are deeply grateful to Coronation for investing in this vision and helping make this experience possible. 💛

Now, we’re inviting others to join us.

Your support can help put books and learning resources into children's hands, strengthen classrooms and help us take literacy programmes into more schools.

✨ You’ve seen what happens when a story opens a child’s imagination. Now help us open the next door.

Partner with us. Invest in literacy. Invest in a child’s future. ❤️

INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY 2026 | AFRICAN STORY TIME

What a wonderful celebration of stories, imagination and the power of literacy! 🌍📖

This International Literacy Day, Living Through Learning had the privilege of bringing African Story Time to life at Hillwood Primary School in Lavender Hill.

Through storytelling, puppetry, performance, dance and learner participation, our learners joined Una Mzansi on an unforgettable journey through the African bush, reminding us that every story has the power to teach, inspire and open a child's mind to a world of possibilities.

International Literacy Day reminds us that literacy is more than the ability to read and write. It gives children the confidence to express themselves, the tools to continue learning and the opportunity to dream beyond what they already know. ❤️

A special thank you to Coronation for their generous donation and support. Your contribution helped us create a meaningful and memorable literacy experience for our learners, and we are deeply grateful for your investment in education and the next generation.

To Hillwood Primary School, our educators, volunteers, performers and every learner who participated, thank you for helping us bring African Story Time to life.

Here’s a look back at a truly special International Literacy Day 2026. 🎥✨

📚✨ Throwback to one of our favourite days of the year... International Literacy Day!

In 2024, our learners at Perivale Primary School brought Todd Parr's inspiring message, It's Okay to Be Different, to life through creativity, storytelling, performances, and the joyful celebration of what makes each of us unique. 💙🌈

As we begin planning for this year's International Literacy Day, we're reminded of how these celebrations continue to grow, becoming more meaningful, more colourful, and reaching even more young hearts each year. We can't wait to create another unforgettable day that inspires a lifelong love of reading and learning.

👀 Stay tuned... something special is on the way! 📖✨

After a well-deserved school holiday, our team took on the ultimate challenge at HintHunt to reconnect, recharge, and have a little fun together before the start of Term 3. 🧩💙

Now we’re feeling refreshed, re-energised, and ready to do what we love most—supporting Foundation Phase learners as they continue building the literacy skills that will shape their futures. Here’s to another term of learning, growth, and unlocking potential, one learner at a time. 📚✨

💙 The biggest impact is often made by the quietest heroes.

Before a single learner sat down to enjoy a warm meal, the West End Primary School incredible kitchen staff were already hard at work, preparing food with care and kindness. Thank you for being the heart behind our Term 2 Holiday Programme in Mitchell's Plain.

A heartfelt thank you also to the dedicated teachers who gave up their holiday to support our learners, and to Boxer Superstores for partnering with us to provide nutritious meals throughout the programme. Together, we created a space where children could learn, laugh, and enjoy the comfort of a warm meal. We are so grateful for every person who made this possible. 💚📚🍝

“We need female role models.” – Mr Speelman, Principal of Valhalla Primary School.

This Youth Day, 84 Grade 7 girls gathered at Valhalla Primary School for a morning of reflection, confidence-building, and self-discovery. Through journaling, affirmations, and interactive activities led by Anitha Mulligan from CCC Tweens, learners were reminded that their thoughts have power and that they are capable of learning, growing, and achieving their dreams.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners, donors, educators, and role models for helping us celebrate the potential of South Africa’s future female leaders. 💗✨

Every child deserves the opportunity to discover the joy of reading. 📚✨

At Living Through Learning, we work alongside schools, educators, learners, and communities to strengthen foundational literacy through our Reading Adventure Rooms, educator development programmes, holiday programmes, and literacy-focused events.

Through targeted interventions, engaging learning environments, and a belief that learning should be both meaningful and fun, we help young learners build the confidence and skills they need to thrive.

Behind every statistic is a child finding their voice, an educator gaining new tools, and a classroom becoming a place where learning comes alive.

Together, we're building stronger foundations for lifelong learning, one learner at a time. ❤️
