Bolt driver needs his batteries charged!

After receiving zero feedback from Bolt after sharing with them an example of dangerous driving (https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Fy3pAKWZC/) in our community, now the threat went from potential to very real!

At 5am this morning, a bolt driver swerved their way down Roodebloem, narrowly missing several cars and curbs, driving on the wrong side of the road before crashing head on into a parked car.

This could have easily been a child or any other individual trying to cross a road.

The lack of feedback from Bolt, lack of professionalism and real threat to our community is extremely concerning.

Bolt why must our community pay the price for your 'professional' drivers?

The Law Enforcement Marine Unit were led to an illegal haul of West Coast Rock Lobster tails at the Old Woodstock Hospital yesterday.

A 33-year-old was arrested and detained at Woodstock SAPS. Officers recovered 973 tails that were handed over as evidence.

"On further investigation, it was found that the suspect has gang ties, so this was likely more than just a side hustle, but rather a means to finance other illegal activities." Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.

[WOODSTOCK POLICE NEED HELP TO TRACE PERSON]

Woodstock police are seeking the assistance of the public to trace Ebrahim Farland depicted in the photograph, who they believe can assist them with their investigation in a murder case which occurred in Walmer Estate, Woodstock, in September 2025, where an adult male was fatally wounded. He is not regarded as a suspect at this stage.

Anyone with any information or who knows the whereabouts of Ebrahim is kindly requested to contact the investigating officer detective Sergeant David Basson on 071 035 7096 or on 08600 10111. Alternatively, make use of the to send a tip-off.

Today was a HUGE milestone for our community as the Salt River Market site was handed over to communicare to be redeveloped into over 900 affordable housing units as well as shops, play areas etc.

This marks the very first, well located affordable housing this close to the City. We can expect to see work starting in October this year.

Not only does this open up housing opportunities for those who desperately need them, it also turns the last page on a long story of gang activity which has prevailed at the ‘Stalle’ and under the bridge on Foundry Road.

This transformation from the evils of gang activity to happy homes could not happen sooner.

Today we celebrate! 🥳 Thanks to Cllr Ian McMahon - Ward 115 and Cllr Carl Pophaim - MMC: Human Settlements, City of Cape Town who heard our pleas to restore law and order to the sites earmarked for social housing.

We still have questions around Pine Road, Douglas Square and importantly at Pickwick where it appears national government has pulled the plug on Instrata’s proposal to build 100’s more homes. These remain gang hotpots and need continued focus. We must never allow the stubbornness of gangs and illegal occupiers to slow down the development of affordable housing!

Rest assured, we will continue to advocate for these sites to be made safe so they are not a risk to life and limb for members of our community.

The thing about driving with your brand on the top of the vehicle is that it’s not so difficult to figure out who the idiot it who can’t respect the rules of the road.

Bolt your drivers need to do better. Not stopping at a 4 way, overtaking a blind turn on the wrong way. This puts pedestrians and drivers at risk.
