Assisting SAPS and the community by being eyes and ears in the fight against crime, by ensuring a bridge of communication between the community and SAPS and by ensuring transparency in the actions of SAPS.

01/05/2026

Another long weekend, and once again our teams are out there—side by side with SAPS—facing the harsh realities many never see. From dealing with intoxicated individuals causing disruption, to breaking up fights and responding to crime, the challenges are constant and demanding.

While most are at home, relaxing with family or watching TV, these dedicated White River men and women are on duty—sacrificing their comfort to keep our community safe.

The truth is, their efforts often go unnoticed, and at times, even met with disrespect.

It’s time we change that.

Let’s come together as a community. Let’s stand united, support one another, and show appreciation for those who put their lives on the line every day.

Safety is a shared responsibility—we all have a role to play.

Salute to all our crime-fighting partners. Your commitment does not go unseen. 👏

Who is really influencing South Africa’s firearm laws right now — and why are there serious questions being asked about the process behind closed doors?

The proposed FCA Amendment Bill continues to raise serious questions — and new developments involving NEDLAC have added another layer of concern.

In this follow-up discussion, Jonathan Deal from Safe Citizen breaks down:

What NEDLAC has been doing behind the scenes
Why the involvement of non-mandated individuals or institutions matters
The urgent request for clarification sent on 19 March
The official response received — and what it means
Where things currently stand
What lawful firearm owners should be paying attention to right now

This is not just about fi****ms — it’s about transparency, process, and how legislation that affects millions of South Africans is being shaped.

Stay informed. Stay aware.

The CPF and SAPS LCRC had a highly successful day working together.

A sincere thank you to everyone who attended, with special appreciation to SAPS LCRC for taking the time to share valuable insights and information. Your contribution is truly valued.

Thank you as well to Farm Watch for the guidance on improving communication methods — your input plays an important role in strengthening our efforts.

This marks another important step in the right direction: moving beyond simply responding to emergencies, and working together to protect valuable evidence until the relevant teams arrive.

Together, we continue to build a safer, more effective community.

WHITE RIVER MOURNS A FALLEN HERO

One of our own has paid the ultimate price while serving and protecting our community.
A CPF member, just like so many of us, who stood for what is right with courage and selflessness.

With heavy hearts and unstoppable tears, we stand united. We will not let this sacrifice be in vain. We will continue the fight and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

To our brother in arms—rest in peace.

Your bravery, commitment and love for this community will never be forgotten.

We honor you, we respect you and we will carry your legacy forward.

To the family and loved ones you leave behind, we extend our deepest condolences. Your loss is our loss and we stand with you in this time of grief.

We give you our word: we will follow your example. We will stand strong, remain committed and continue to serve with the same courage you showed.
White River mourns you, but we will also rise in your honor. We will stand together against crime and protect what matters most.

Close to midnight last night, we received the call no one ever wants to hear. Today, we salute you.

Rest in peace.

Operational Report 2026/05/03: Taxi and Liquor licence monitoring

White River SAPS VISPOL and Crime Prevention led by Capt Phoku held an operation to address taxis conducting unlawful activities on public roads and monitoring of liquor licences for the various outlets in town.

Fortunately no major incidents were reported and the roads were clear. These operations will continue in the future to ensure continued compliance.

*Public Announcement: Registering a Case at SAPS:*

No police officer has the right to refuse opening your case, no matter what the crime or where it occurred. There is also no specified time frame in which you need to open a case (However, accident reports, which are different from criminal cases, must be registered within 24 hours).

If intoxicated, sober up before opening a case as this is the only grounds upon which opening a case may be delayed.

Furthermore, the ONLY decision on whether or not a case should be opened LIES WITH YOU. No one can force you to open a case if you do not wish to do so, however, keep in mind that SAPS, security, CPF's, etc cannot investigate or arrest suspects if no case is registered, unless a Schedule 1 offence was committed.

The South African Police Service has issued a clear reminder under National Instruction 3 of 2011:
•Every complainant must be assisted in opening a case.
•No one should be turned away, told “it’s not serious,” or referred to another station.

*Common excuses that are NOT VALID:*
“You don’t know the suspect’s name.”
“Bring the suspect here first.”
“It didn’t happen in this area.”
“It’s a family matter, go sort it out.”
“It’s not that serious.”

*If an officer refuses to open your case, report them immediately using the below details:*

*SAPS National Complaints Centre:*
0800 333 177 or 0860 264 487

*Or contact any of the WRCPF Committee Members or Admins*

Remember to include time, date, station name and the rank and surname of the officer/s involved.
