LOW RESERVOIR LEVELS
RIEBECKSTAD
27 FEBRUARY 2026.

Matjhabeng Local Municipality wishes to inform residents that the main storage reservoirs located in Riebeckstad are currently experiencing critically low water levels.

The Riebeckstad Reservoir supplies a significant portion of Matjhabeng. As a result, residents in high-lying areas of Welkom, including Flamingo Park, Dagbreek, Rheederpark and Thabong Far East , may experience very low water pressure or intermittent water supply.

In addition, the eastern parts of Matjhabeng, including Ventersburg and Hennenman, are also affected.

Water carting services will be provided in the affected areas as an interim measure until reservoir levels stabilise and the water system fully recovers.

Residents are strongly urged to use water sparingly during this period to assist the system in recovering as quickly as possible.

The Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and appreciates your patience, understanding and cooperation.

PUBLIC NOTICE: PLANNED ELECTRICITY INTERRUPTION – KOPPIE ALLEEN
07 OCTOBER 2025

The Matjhabeng Local Municipality wishes to inform residents of Riebeeckstad that Eskom has issued a notice of a planned electricity supply interruption to allow for essential maintenance work at the substation.

The interruption is scheduled as follows:
Date: Thursday, 09 October 2025
Time: 08:30 – 17:00

Residents are advised that:
Electricity supply may be restored at any time without prior notice during the maintenance period. All electrical installations must therefore be treated as live and dangerous at all times.

The interruption is necessary to enable Eskom to safely carry out scheduled maintenance work.

The Municipality apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the patience and understanding of the affected residents.
