*What did HIV & AIDS mean to Freedom Day?*

Freedom Day reminds us that our democracy gave us rights — including the right to healthcare, dignity, and life.

In 1994, HIV & AIDS was a death sentence for many. Stigma was law. People were fired, abandoned, and buried in silence.

Freedom meant we could fight back. It meant activists could demand ARVs. It meant government had to care. It meant _we_ could speak, test, and live.

Today, HIV is not a crime. It’s a chronic condition. That shift _is_ freedom.

This Freedom Day, CSF honours those we lost, the activists who fought, and every person living positively and freely.

Getting to Know the District Coordinating Committee (DCC) in Lejweleputswa District.
The SANAC Civil Society Forum’s District Coordinating Committee (DCC) plays a vital role in driving community-led responses to HIV, TB, and STIs within the Lejweleputswa District. It connects civil society, government departments, and local communities so that health interventions are effective, long-lasting, and open to everyone.

Important Roles of the DCC:

😀Mobilise Communities😀: Get people involved in awareness campaigns and encourage them to take part in prevention and treatment programmes.

😀Coordinate Initiatives😀: Make sure that local efforts are in line with national plans to make the fight against HIV, TB, and STIs stronger.

😀Advocate and lobby😀: Speak for the needs of important and vulnerable groups to change policy and how resources are used.

😀Monitor and Report😀: Keep an eye on progress, find problems, and share ideas to make service delivery better.

😀Strengthen Partnerships😀: Work with stakeholders like NGOs, clinics, and community leaders to fight health problems together.

We are all working together to get rid of HIV, TB, and STIs in the Lejweleputswa District so that no one is left behind.
