SASSA ANNOUNCES REVISED NOVEMBER 2026 SOCIAL GRANT PAYMENT DATES AHEAD OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS

14 October 2026

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) wishes to inform social grant beneficiaries and the public of revised payment dates for the November 2026 social grant payment cycle in light of the upcoming Local Government Elections.
The revised payment schedule follows extensive consultations between SASSA and various stakeholders to ensure that social grant payments continue to be administered efficiently, securely and with minimal disruption during the election period. Following these engagements, National Treasury approved the revised payment dates, paving the way for the implementation of the new schedule.

In terms of the revised arrangements, social grants will be paid as follows:

 Older Persons Grant: Friday, 30 October 2026
 Disability Grant: Monday, 02 November 2026
 Children's Grants: Tuesday, 03 November 2026

SASSA emphasises that the adjustment is intended to support the smooth administration of social grant payments during the period surrounding the Local Government Elections. The Agency remains committed to ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive their grants in an orderly and reliable manner.

SASSA further reminds beneficiaries whose grants are under review to respond to official communication from the Agency and attend review appointments when requested. The fourth-day payment on 05 November 2026 is specifically intended for beneficiaries whose grants fall within the review process.

The Agency urges beneficiaries not to rush to SASSA offices unnecessarily, as grant payments will be processed according to the announced schedule. Beneficiaries should continue to use SASSA's official communication channels for accurate information and guard against misinformation and disinformation regarding social grants information.

HOUSING CONSUMER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

The Department of Human Settlements, in collaboration with different stakeholders, hosted a Housing Consumer Awareness Session on 13 October 2026 at the Bela Bela Old Community Hall.

The session targeted prospective RDP housing beneficiaries on the waiting list, providing important information on the application process, eligibility criteria and requirements for accessing government-subsidised housing.

Residents were informed of the following basic requirements for RDP housing applications:�▪️ Must be 18 years or older.�▪️ Must possess a valid South African identity document (ID).�▪️ Must be registered on the Bela Bela Local Municipality housing waiting list.�▪️ Must meet the qualifying household income threshold of R3,500 or less�▪️ Applicants must meet the applicable housing eligibility criteria, including provisions relating to property ownership and previous housing benefits.

The session also highlighted plans for the provision of 75 RDP housing units, underscoring the importance of public awareness and ensuring that eligible residents understand the application process.

Please take note that due to planned water restrictions, Jinnah Park Primary School will dismiss learners at 12:00 from 14–20 October 2026.
Kindly make the necessary transport arrangements. 🚗
📚 Please encourage learners to study at home in preparation for the upcoming examinations. Learners are also encouraged to bring drinking water due to the hot weather. No fizzy drinks, please.
