On International Day for Persons with Disabilities, the West Coast Disability Forum proudly hosted an Awareness March in Saldanha, and what a powerful day it was.

Hundreds of people, including persons with disabilities, filled the streets with unity, visibility and hope. Organisations from across the West Coast, all working daily to support and care for people with disabilities, stood side by side to promote inclusion and strengthen awareness in our region.

The day continued at the Multi-Purpose Centre with a joyful and meaningful celebration for our disability community.

A sincere thank you to every participant, supporter, organisation and volunteer who made this day possible. Together we continue to affirm that inclusion matters, dignity matters, and people with disabilities deserve to be seen, valued and celebrated πŸ’›

A big thank you to Saldanha Bay Municipality and La Grange Elektries for sponsoring all the water for our Disability Awareness Walk on 1 December in Saldanha, held in honour of International Day for Persons with Disabilities.

Your generosity made a huge difference on that hot day, keeping every participant refreshed during the march and providing plenty of water at the event that followed at the Saldanha Multi-Purpose Centre, where food was served and many fun games were enjoyed.

Your support helped us raise awareness that inclusion matters, accessibility is essential, and every person deserves to be seen, valued, and included.

Thank you very much. We couldn’t have done this without you. πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›

Yesterday at the International Day for Persons with Disabilities march in Saldanha, the West Coast Disability Forum had the privilege of meeting Hesmari Meyer, Ms Deaf South Africa Finalist.

What an incredible young woman. Her story of endurance, strength and courage makes her a true role model for people with disabilities across our region and beyond.

We are proud that she is from Vredenburg and we wish her every success in the competition ahead. Let’s rally behind her. Please support her. Please support local!

Hundreds of people, including those with disabilities, filled the streets with unity, visibility, and hope. The celebration continues at the Multi-Purpose Centre, where we are hosting a fun and meaningful day for our disability community.
