Truly a very inspiring story. We do not only need more of this, we actually do have more of this.
In the streets of Delft, where life can sometimes feel like an uphill battle, Linton and Cammy were once known for a very different reason.
They were a young couple who had become trapped in addiction. What started as something they believed they could control slowly took control of their lives. Their money disappeared, relationships became strained, and the future they once imagined together seemed further away with every passing day.
There were moments when even they had stopped believing that things could change.
But somewhere beneath the addiction, there was still a part of Linton and Cammy that refused to give up.
One evening, after yet another difficult day, they sat together and made a decision.
They were tired of surviving.
They wanted to live.
The road to recovery wasn’t easy. There were setbacks, difficult days, temptations and moments when they questioned whether they could really build a different life. But they kept choosing another day of recovery.
One day became a week.
A week became a month.
And eventually, the couple began discovering something they had almost forgotten, who they were without addiction.
Their faith became an important part of their new journey. They started attending church, praying together and surrounding themselves with people who encouraged them instead of pulling them back into their old lives.
Slowly, their home became a place of peace.
But Linton and Cammy didn’t stop there.
They remembered the people they had met along the way, people who were still struggling, people who felt forgotten and people who desperately needed someone to tell them, “Your story doesn’t have to end here.”
So they started helping others.
They shared their experiences, encouraged people to seek treatment and supported families affected by addiction. They didn’t pretend to have all the answers. Instead, they simply spoke from experience.
They knew what it felt like to lose hope.
And they knew what it felt like to find it again.
Today, Linton and Cammy live very different lives. Their past is still part of their story, but it no longer controls their future.
The same two people who once needed someone to believe in them are now the ones believing in others.
Their story is a reminder that addiction can take people to dark places, but a person’s worst chapter doesn’t have to become their final chapter.
Sometimes hope begins with one decision.
Sometimes it begins with asking for help.
And sometimes, it begins with two people sitting together and saying,
“We’ve come too far to give up now.”
From the streets of Delft to a life devoted to helping others, Linton and Cammy discovered that redemption isn’t about pretending the past never happened.
It’s about using what you survived to help somebody else find their way home.
