πŸ’š World Mental Health Day

Sometimes the most important thing we can give someone is kindness, understanding and the knowledge that they are not alone.

Today is a reminder to look after ourselves β€” and to look out for one another. πŸ’š

πŸ‘“πŸŒ World Sight Day

Sight connects us to the people, places and moments that matter. πŸ’™

Today, we are reminded why vision remains such an important part of the work of the Vereeniging Lions Club β€” helping people in our community see more clearly and live more independently.

Because the gift of sight can change a life. πŸ’›

πŸ’™ A service our community continues to value.

Our SASSA day diabetes and blood pressure screenings at River Square have become a well-received service in our community.

At our most recent screening, 82 people received both diabetes and blood pressure checks.

We were also grateful to receive donations of diabetes testing strips from PathCare, along with additional testing supplies from an anonymous donor β€” helping us continue offering this valuable service. πŸ’›

Thank you to Lions Zelda Mullen and Max Vreugde along with everyone who helps us keep community health screening accessible.

We recently had the opportunity to assist someone recovering from a broken back with a shower chair.

Items like these, donated to the Vereeniging Lions Club, can go on to help people in our community again and again and we are truly grateful for them. πŸ’›

πŸ§πŸ’› A little love for National Cupcake Day.

The Vereeniging Lions Club was privileged to support the Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer - Cupcakes of Hope stand at River Square yesterday, with cupcakes lovingly baked by Lion Monique Steenkamp for their National Cupcake Day fundraiser.

Lion Monique and Lion MJ also handed over 18 Paediatric Cancer Comfort Bags, packed with care by Lion Vanessa Pantoleon.πŸŽ—οΈ

A little kindness and care for children facing cancer. πŸ’›

πŸ’™ A little look back at our September meeting! 🌿🦁

There was definitely more than club business around the table earlier this month! πŸ˜„

We celebrated Lion Zelda Mullen’s birthday with cake πŸŽ‚, recognised Lions Judi and Mervyn Gabriel for 10 years of service, and enjoyed a little β€œS for September” fellowship fun courtesy of our Tail Twister, LS Shana Maree-Paraskevopoulos.

And because we celebrated Arbor Week and spring, everyone went home with their own little basil plant to grow. πŸŒ±πŸ’š

President Rochelle McDonald also shared the banner presented to the Vereeniging Lions Club during District Governor Mark’s recent visit.

Cake, basil, fellowship, a little fun β€” and somewhere in between, we even managed to have a meeting! πŸ˜‚πŸ’™πŸ’›

Our recent Eye Clinic was another opportunity to help members of our community access the eye care they need.

We are grateful to the UJ Department of Optometry and Lions Brightsight for continuing to make this important service possible.

Thank you as well to Pathcare for assisting with diabetes screening.

Small moments of care. A lasting difference.
