💙 Back at River Square and back to serving our community.

Lion Zelda Mullen and Lion Max Vreugde were at River Square today offering free diabetes and blood pressure screenings, with 92 people screened.

It was wonderful to be back and to see so many people making use of the screenings. 💛

What a special afternoon for the Vereeniging Lions Club as we officially welcomed a new Lionistic year. 💙🦁

Lion President Rochelle McDonald was installed as President of the Vereeniging Lions Club for 2026–2027, marking the beginning of another year of service, fellowship and working together for our community.

The afternoon also gave us an opportunity to reflect on the past Lionistic year and recognise members for their service and contributions.

A particularly special moment was the presentation of a Melvin Jones Fellowship to PP Lion Suzanne Murray. 💛
Named in honour of Lions Clubs International founder Melvin Jones, the fellowship is one of the highest forms of recognition within Lions and recognises a commitment to humanitarian service.

It was wonderful to share the occasion with visiting Lions from the Alberton Lions Club, together with fellow Lions, family, friends and guests who joined us for the afternoon. Thank you for being part of this special celebration and the fellowship that followed. 💙💛

From clothing and food assistance to walking sticks and a much-needed pair of boots, sometimes the everyday things can make a difference. 💙

Recently, practical items have been distributed where they were needed — including clothing and Meal in a Bag packs for 27 residents at Montgomery House.

Thank you to Lion President Rochelle McDonald and Lions Jamie Mullen and Zelda Mullen for helping arrange and deliver this assistance. 🦁💛
