🌍 CALL FOR ENVIRONMENTAL FUNDING PROPOSALS 2026/27 🌱

Keep South Africa Clean Foundation invites NPOs, NPCs, NGOs and Companies implementing environmental programmes across South Africa to submit proposals for potential funding.

We seek practical initiatives focused on:

♻️ Waste Management & Recycling
🧹 Clean-Up Campaigns
🌳 Tree Planting & Greening
🏫 Environmental Education
👥 Youth Empowerment & Green Skills
🌱 Community Gardens & Restoration
🌍 Climate & Sustainability

Proposals must indicate the environmental challenge, proposed activities, expected impact, geographical reach (Local, Regional, Provincial or National), beneficiaries, timeline and funding required.

Women continue to inspire, nurture and lead our families, communities, workplaces and nation. From community leaders and environmental champions to educators, entrepreneurs, mothers and young women shaping the future, your contribution makes a difference every day.

Environmental Champions Continue Their Commitment to Creating Cleaner Schools
7 August 2026 | Chivirikana Primary School | Katlehong, Gauteng

The Keep South Africa Clean Foundation's Environmental Champions continued their mission of promoting environmental stewardship by embarking on a community clean-up and school improvement campaign at Chivirikana Primary School on Friday, 7 August 2026.

The initiative took place just one day after the Foundation addressed learners during the school's assembly, where they inspired learners to become Environmental Champions by protecting nature, keeping their surroundings clean, conserving water and taking pride in their school and community.

Putting these messages into action, the Environmental Champions returned to the school to work alongside educators and learners in creating a cleaner, healthier and more welcoming learning environment.

During the campaign, the Environmental Champions:
* Assisted in maintaining and improving the school's food garden.
* Conducted a comprehensive clean-up of the school grounds.
* Collected litter and promoted responsible waste disposal.
* Painted the children's play areas to create a brighter and safer recreational environment.
* Encouraged learners to take ownership of keeping their school clean and beautiful.

The campaign demonstrated that environmental education is most effective when it is followed by practical action. By combining awareness with hands-on community service, the Environmental Champions showed learners that every individual has a role to play in protecting the environment.

The school's food garden remains an important educational resource, providing learners with practical knowledge about food production, environmental sustainability and healthy living. The Environmental Champions were proud to contribute to maintaining this valuable asset while reinforcing the importance of caring for green spaces.

Speaking after the campaign, representatives of the Keep South Africa Clean Foundation reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to supporting schools through environmental education and practical environmental initiatives.

Keep South Africa Clean Foundation Inspires Learners at Chivirikana Primary School to Become Environmental Champions

The Keep South Africa Clean Foundation (KSACF) continued its commitment to environmental education and youth empowerment by visiting Chivirikana Primary School on the morning of 6 August 2026, where Foundation representatives addressed learners during the school's assembly on the importance of protecting the environment and becoming responsible environmental stewards.

Speaking to the learners, the Foundation encouraged them to recognise that caring for the environment starts with simple daily actions. Learners were reminded that they do not have to wait until they are adults to make a difference—they can begin today by becoming Environmental Champions who care for nature, keep their surroundings clean and inspire others to do the same.

During the interactive presentation, learners were encouraged to think about the importance of clean schools, healthy communities and protecting South Africa's natural environment. The Foundation shared five practical actions every learner can take to contribute to a cleaner environment:

Never litter and always dispose of waste responsibly.
Reduce, reuse and recycle materials whenever possible.

Save water by using it wisely and reporting leaking taps.
Plant and protect trees to improve the environment.

Keep classrooms and school grounds clean and take pride in their school.

The Foundation emphasised that every positive action matters. Whether it is picking up a piece of litter, recycling a plastic bottle or planting a tree, each action contributes towards protecting the environment and building healthier communities. Learners were also encouraged to understand that they are the future leaders of
South Africa and have an important role to play in safeguarding the country's natural resources.

A highlight of the assembly was the Environmental Champion Pledge, where learners proudly raised their right hands and committed themselves to:

* Keeping their school clean.
* Protecting nature.
* Saving water.
* Recycling whenever possible.
* Respecting animals and plants.

Encouraging their friends and families to care for the environment.

The session concluded with a powerful reminder that "The Earth is our only home. If we look after it today, it will look after us tomorrow." Learners were inspired by Nelson Mandela's words, "It is in your hands to create a better world for all who live in it," reinforcing the message that building a better future begins with individual responsibility and collective action.

The Keep South Africa Clean Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to the Principal, educators and learners of Chivirikana Primary School for the warm welcome and enthusiastic participation.

Keep South Africa Clean Foundation Participates in the 4th Annual Momentum Youth Dialogue

The Keep South Africa Clean Foundation (KSACF) was honoured to participate in the 4th Annual Momentum Youth Dialogue, hosted by Momentum Group in partnership with the Green Youth Network, on Thursday, 30 July 2026, at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), Durban.

Held during National Savings Month, this year's dialogue was themed "Advice Meets Your Context" and brought together young people, industry leaders, financial experts, development practitioners and organisations committed to empowering South Africa's youth.

The event provided a dynamic platform for meaningful discussions on financial literacy, career development, entrepreneurship, leadership and personal growth. Participants also engaged in speed advising sessions with financial professionals, interactive financial clinics, real-life budgeting challenges and peer networking opportunities, all designed to equip young people with practical tools for navigating today's economic and social realities.

As the Keep South Africa Clean Foundation, we were proud to participate in these important conversations and to showcase our commitment to youth empowerment through our Environmental Champions Programme. Our programme equips unemployed young people with environmental leadership skills, practical green skills and opportunities to make a positive impact within their communities through clean-up campaigns, recycling initiatives, environmental education and climate action.

The dialogue reinforced the importance of investing in young people by providing them with the knowledge, confidence and opportunities needed to become leaders and active citizens. It also highlighted the value of partnerships between the private sector, civil society and community organisations in creating sustainable solutions for South Africa's future.
