We often say, "It takes a village to raise a child." We love the idea of a community that nurtures, feeds, and teaches. But the village has a much more serious side.
When we see a child in our neighbourhood who is neglected, hungry, or showing signs of fear, and we choose to "mind our own business," we are breaking the village's most important promise.
Child protection isn't just the job of the police or social workers, it happens at the garden gate, the tuck shop, and the street corner. It is the courage to ask "Are you okay?" and the responsibility to call for help when the answer is "No."
This Child Protection Week, let’s be the eyes that watch, the ears that listen, and the voices that speak up for those who cannot.
Your intervention could be the turning point in a child’s entire life story!
