In 1907, Rotary’s very first service project was the construction of public comfort stations (toilets) in Chicago — initiated by founder Paul Harris to improve public sanitation. This simple but important project helped transform Rotary International from a networking group into the world’s first service club, responding to a real community need for safe and accessible public restrooms. More than a century later, that same commitment continues through Rotary’s global Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives.

What an inspiring evening with Sharlene van der Slikke sharing her passion for frogs and their fragile habitats
Our Rotarians were absolutely gobsmacked at how much there is to learn about these small but vital indicators of environmental health. From the importance of protecting our waterways to understanding the species, right in our own gardens, it was an eye-opening and fascinating talk.
We encourage you to join the KZN Coastal Frogging Forum on Facebook and be part of the conversation. It’s a wonderful community hub where enthusiasts post sightings, learn from one another and support conservation awareness.🐸
