PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT 🤝
Masiphilisane HIV and AIDS Organisation is proud to announce our partnership with the AIDS Foundation of South Africa (AFSA) through the Ukusekela Small Projects Support Fund.
This partnership strengthens community-led action addressing some of the most urgent social and health challenges in our communities, aligned with Ukusekela’s thematic focus areas:
-Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF)
-Gender equality and women’s empowerment
-Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)
-Mental health and psychosocial support
-Economic development and empowerment
Why this matters:
• In South Africa, 1 in 3 women experiences physical or sexual violence in her lifetime.
• Women and girls continue to face unequal access to economic opportunities, increasing vulnerability to poverty and abuse.
• Young women and adolescent girls remain disproportionately affected by HIV, highlighting gaps in SRHR access and education.
• Mental health conditions affect millions of South Africans, yet most people in rural areas cannot access adequate mental health services.
• Unemployment and lack of livelihoods remain key drivers of inequality and poor health outcomes in rural communities.
Through this partnership, we are working to address root causes, strengthen prevention, expand access to care and rights, and create pathways for economic empowerment and healing.
Together with AFSA and Ukusekela, we are building safer, healthier, and more resilient communities — led by the people they serve.
