Action Leadership for Youth and Community Development Organisation (ALYCDO) NPO: 153-578 is a youth development focused Organisation founded in 2015 in Mthatha, the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Action leadership interprets personal leadership as accepting that within an individual there is a leader and a follower. The relationship between these two, is that of, the leader influencing the follower.

ALYCDO, believes this influence relationship is the one that determines one’s ultimate life outcomes called success. The organization works with young people between the ages of 13-19 years focusing more on Grades 8- 12 in Mthatha urban, peri-urban within the King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality and the greater O. For ALYCDO, Leadership Education, is the fulcrum that supports Personal Leadership Development and Community Development through community service learning for the youth of Mthatha and surrounding areas. These three become the interface of what we call an “ongoing youth development philosophy” that spans over a three-year period as a basic standard.

In a study evaluating Educational Outputs in Cognitive and Affective Domains 62% of the cognitive acquisitions were determined by the affective behaviours. This result indicates that a great majority of the behaviours that the students exhibited in the learning-teaching process appeared in accordance with the mutual dependency relationship of the cognitive and affective domains.

The “Transformative Leadership Education for Individual Sustainability” (TLEIS) initiative is committed to creating a supportive, engaging, and empowering environment for high school learners. By leveraging the strengths of local schools, a university, and the Nelson Mandela Museum. This program aims to make a transformative lived experience by engaging a high school learner 3 of their 5 year high school journey as a basic requirement and expectation. Ultimately a seed is planted that will act as a guide as the tree grows in the lifelong Conscious Personal Leadership Development and Growth of high school learners.
