uMhlanga Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP)

uMhlanga Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP) The UIP manages public space in uMhlanga Rocks to ensure a positive experience of this beautiful place.

It aims to retain existing investment and stimulate new economic opportunities while improving safety and quality of life for all. There are two UIPs namely The Umhlanga Promenade UIP established in March 2003, and the The Village UIP established in July 2008. These UIPs, collectively known as the Umhlanga UIP represent 29 large erven. Each UIP is organisationally and financially independent, but

work together to ensure strategic alignment with both areas managed as one precinct. The UIPs are recognised by the municipality as official service providers to public areas. Each UIP has an annual service agreement with the municipality specifying what services are to be provided. The UIP status of an official service provider allows for significant leverage in optimising municipal service delivery. In addition to the two UIPs, there are a further three Associate Managed Areas:
namely, the Southern Promenade Properties (SPP) - established 2004; the Northern Promenade Properties (NPP) - established 2010, and the Park to Park (Durban View to Eastmore Crescent)

Temporary Closure: Umhlanga Lagoon Nature Trail Bridge

Please note that the bridge on the Umhlanga Lagoon Nature Trail is currently closed due to a collapsed support column.

For safety reasons, the bridge will remain closed until further notice while an engineer assesses the damage and determines the necessary repairs.
