I said that our next project will be Willowdam, but there is a little curfball in the arrangements.
As I was dealing with parks department I learned that the Municipality, in conjunction with Department of fishery and forestry, is planning to do a cleanup of their own.
This means that I am not going to interfere with the main players when they play.
We will have to wait untill they are finished and then we will see what can be done by us.
As I was not expecting that we will have such a long break I need to decide what to do next.
For that reason I am asking You, as the heartbeat of Uitenhage, if you have any ideas as to what project to tackle next. Put your idea on the group, but we must be realistic about it as well as being positive about what can be achieved.
Every project will be different from the next one. For that we need to look at everything and then decide what is in our capabilities, experience wise and money wise.
But please, bring on the names and I will put together a list to work from.
TOGETHER we can make Uitenhage UITENHAGE again.

I posted about the pergola that must go up at the Waterfall Park and I am pleased with the response from you all.
I will start to phone the Volunteers today to see what can be done.

Good afternoon everybody.
I said the other day that I want to put up the pergola at the Waterfall Park.
Well... I got the wood today. One step closer. Now it must be treated before it can be used. That brings me to the very important question.
Is there any person or company that can put it up for us? It would be highly appreciated if someone would do us that favour. At least it would be professionally done.
The Parks Departement said they would supply the plants once the pergola is up.
Let’s work together to make Uitenhage UITENHAGE again.

The time to start the second Project is here. I have listened to the requests that came from you. Some actually messaged me privately and the winner is... Willowdam!
Now that is going to be difficult for a number of reasons.
1. Willowdam is much bigger than the Waterfall Park.
2. It needs special knowledge as to the birds breeding habits and their nesting habits.
3. The biggest problem will be the reeds and the silting of the dam.
4. For the removing of some of the reeds we will need help from the businessman in town.
5. The fixing of the silting problem is also tricky and again we will rely on the equipment of some of our businesses in town.
6. The abuse afflicted onto Willowdam every weekend with the rubbish being dumped there is not helping the situation.
7. We need more involvement from the community / volunteers in order to make this work.
Having said all the above is because I believe it can be done and the result will be spectacular.
The recent floods have showed the problem areas, of which Willowdam is a big one. The flow through the dam is compromised by the reeds blocking the exit. That is why the water rises and then spill over onto the road, which causes a lot of problems.
Before we can start at Willowdam I will have to finish the pergola at the Waterfall Park. Once that is done it is the maintenance team that need to keep going. Make Uitenhage UITENHAGE again.

Good evening everybody.
A few weeks ago we al suffered damages due to rain and high winds.
Today we are facing something similar as we are experiencing heavy rains and with the ground already saturated there will be a lot of run off water.
Unfortunately the blocked water drains are still BLOCKED, so the problems are about to get worse. There are a few danger spots that needs special care.
The Waterfall park is number one. Be carefull, the stading water runs from side to side.
The second one is the Mosel dam in mosel street infront of OK Minimark and Haggies.
The third one is WILLOWDAM, which is a huge problem every time when there is heavy rains. I took some fotos to post mainly from the golf course, Willowdam, the little river running from there and the canal running down towards Dr Braun and the Swartkops river.
Everybody must be carefull and please be safe.

Good morning everyone.
I said that I am organizing one last thing at the Waterfall Park.
Today I am telling you that I am going to put the pergola back on the walkway pillars.
I have put in a request for donation at one of the hardware stores. It is now quite some time, but with no feedback.
If there are any other business out there who wants to help in this endeavor, even if only for half of the cost, it would be highly appreciated.
What I can say is that it WILL go up. The Parks Department said they will give the plants once the pergola is up.
I am also looking for the UITENHAGE STRELITZIA to plant around the side of the site. All this will give colour to the Park, once in bloom.
If anyone has a Strelitzia bush that is in the way, pleease feel free to contact me.
For now I am out, but only untill I made a decision as to the how I am going to finance this.
Let’s join hands to make Uitenhage UITENHAGE again.

Good morning everyone.
Today I want to say thank you to a church for believing in me. ROHI CHURCH, in Canon street, Deposited money into I LOVE UITENHAGE'S account. I needed to know if I may mention their name before I Do that.
So, I can now say that ROHI Church is very HIGH up on my appreciation list. I have been asking The Business community for Donations to help to Beautify Uitenhage, butonly one reacted, and now a Church is answering the call.
ROHI church is also challenging other Churches to follow their example and invest it Uitenhage's Revival. If everybody is prepared to help the task will be so much easier.

Good evening everybody.
I have been quiet because I am still busy organising the next project, but tonight I am reporting something else.
A few people phoned and asked me what was happening at the Waterfall Park and all I could say was "I don't know what is going on" It turned out that a bakkie and trailer somehow caught fire and was completely destroyed. I still don't know what the cause of the fire was, but will post a few photos that were sent on WhatsApp.
The important thing according to the WhatsApp messages is that the driver is OK and not hurt.
I drove pass there after work, but I only saw the burntout carcass of the trailer. I will take fresh photos in the morning.

I think I can call today a GOOD day. I received a Donation from Nico of KLINICARE on behalve of his three KLINICARE branches.
Nico said he is challenging other businesses to do the same. He said he believes that small changes can inspire bigger things, and believe me, Uitenhage needs a few good things to happen to get everyone in a positive mood.
I am forever grateful for this donation, because the maintenance team is now sorted for a while and I can start to focus on the next step, which will be communicated soon.
