Limpopo mental health society conducted education and prevention at Tsega Christian Mission, Fobeni village, Greater Letaba Municipality on the 27th of February 2026. The awareness campaign focused on substance and mental health and the interaction with the participants showed they relate to the topics. Limpopo Mental Health Society conducted education and prevention awareness campaign at Mahumani High School, Nkomo 22B, Greater Giyani Municipality, on the 16th February 2026. During the awareness with grade 9’s the discussions were on mental health and su***de focusing on common causes of mental challenges among youth, warning signs of su***de, the importance of speaking up and seeking help, and available support services, protective factors and promoting a safer and more supportive school environment. The campaign reached a total number of 248 (152 males and 96 females).

Limpopo Mental Health Society presented on the education and prevention campaign with grade 11 learners at Kgapane High School, Kgapane, Greater Letaba Municipality, focusing on su***de prevention, bullying and substance abuse among children and youth on the 11th February 2026. Key discussion highlighted the impact of bullying on mental health, the dangers of substance abuse on academic performance and decision making, and the importance of seeking help when feeling overwhelmed.

Learners were encouraged to speak up, support one another and report harmful behaviour within the school environment. The engagement contributed to strengthening protective factors and promoting a safer and more supportive school environment. The awareness reached a to 61 (40 males and 21 females).

The school is based in The Oaks, Maruleng municipality. The campaign was aimed at giving learners more insight about the mentioned issues. The awareness campaign reached a total attendance of 110 (55 males and 55 females).

Limpopo Mental Health Society conducted an Intersectoral Stakeholders’ Collaboration workshop on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide at Public Works Hall at Giyani, Greater Giyani Municipality under Mopani District for two days on the 28 and 29 October 2025. The workshop was aimed to strengthen coordinated efforts in preventing and responding to GBVF. The workshop consisted different stakeholders such as Department of Education, Department of Health, Department of Agriculture, Maruleng Municipality, Disability centres and community representatives. The engagement aimed at fostering partnerships, aligning strategies, and enhancing accountability.

The aim of the workshop was to develop a common understanding to the concept of intersectoral management of GBVF survivors, to sharpen and improve, and where lacking, develop partnerships in the management GBVF cases, to share and incorporate interventions that work and provide practical solutions needed to upscale GBVF interventions, to improve the quality-of-service delivery through the development and establishment of intersectoral management teams.

The Intersectoral Collaboration workshop reached 25 stakeholders from various stakeholders (07 males and 18 females).

Limpopo Mental Health Society conducted capacity building workshop on Mental Health, aiming at strengthening awareness of personal and professional mental health, building resilience strategies for emotionally demanding work; and encouraging employee wellness to reduce stigma in seeking help. The workshop was conducted on the 22 and 23 October 2025 at Thohoyandou Child & Youth Care Centre Hall (Giyani), under Greater Thulamela Municipality (Vhembe District). The workshop was conducted for Department of Social Development (Social Workers and Child and Youth Care Workers), who are working at Vhembe District and Mopani District. The Workshop covered several topics including Understanding Mental Health & Wellbeing; Common Mental Health conditions; Understanding stress; Stress mapping & support systems; Self-care & compassion fatigue. On 10th October 2025, Limpopo Mental Health Society joined hands with the energetic youth at Lenyenye Love Life Youth Centre to celebrate World Mental Health Day through fun and meaningful physical activities aimed at promoting mental well-being!

Our activities focused on encouraging teamwork, self-expression, stress relief, and resilience, reminding young people that mental health is just as important as physical health.

It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm, laughter, and unity among the participants. Together, we continue to break the stigma around mental health and empower our youth to speak up, support one another, and prioritize their emotional well-being.
