UThongathi Ambitious Youth “UTAY” is a newly formed Non-Profit Organization founded by the group of young ambitious people. It is based at Tongaat where it caters for surrounding communities. The formation of UTAY roots from the realization of unrecovered talent within the communities and therefore a need for necessary platforms that nature such talents possessed by many youngsters.With the common
goal of seeing this as a success and empowering the community. We’ve noticed what we call TALENT SUPRESSING FACTORS(TSF`s) the socio-economic and health problems. Evidently a very high number of teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, school drop outs, poverty and unemployment rates in our community. What has been the other notices is the growth on these community devastating social and health issues over the past years and an obvious need for intervention and a stand by the community members themselves. Despite all the negatives we’ve also noticed various kinds of talents in the youth that are unnoticed due to the bad reputation of the community and the above social issues that suppress talent. Due to such, youthturn to give up because they have no one to give them direction and motivation. We are here to basically tryto give them a second chance in life by bringing back hopes and opportunities to their attention. Showing them that there is more to life than drugs and all the unlawful activities they engage themselves in. they can still have a better life by using their God given talents.
