Teach.Lead.Mentor Foundation (TLM) was established in September 2013, a registered Non-Profit Organization with the Department of Social Development (registration number NPO-126-902), with the objective to give more educational opportunities to the youth of South Africa, so as to capacitate them to identify themselves as proud, confident young adults who will significantly contribute to the econom
y of South Africa. However, TLM still believes that the door to South Africa’s growth and development is education, and education is also the key to decreasing inequality and eradicating poverty, socio-economic ills challenging the bulk of our country. With the strategic use of relevant tools and resources, timeously delivered to the young people of South Africa, an improved positive mind-set will be ushered in, hope revived and an ambitious spirit within them will be born-again. According to the National Development Plan, “Education, training and innovation are not a solution to all problems, but society’s ability to solve problems, develop competitively, eliminate poverty and reduce inequality is severely hampered without them. Schools are the building blocks for learning and socialisation.” TLM stands together with all stakeholders that are tirelessly working towards effectively improving the state of South Africa’s education system and is committed to building sustainable partnerships and collaborations to make the difference needed as well. TLM has a vision to be the organization of choice for disadvantaged young people to acquire the necessary skills needed to advance themselves in both their personal and professional lives. Our formal objective is to provide career-related information as well as academic and life skills to young people around the country who might not easily have access to, or have the means to afford to acquire them. This will be done by:
• Giving young people professional education, training and skills development opportunities by offering them academic skills for free.
• Using intensive programmes aimed at developing young people’s ability to manage themselves and develop life skills relevant to this day and age.
• Timeously delivering tools and resources that will help young people located and situated in remote, isolated and disadvantaged areas of South Africa with their primary and tertiary educational studies.
• Timeously delivering, in every aspect, any information needed by the South African young person to make appropriate and relevant career-related decisions.
• Developing young people’s leadership skills.
