Teach.Lead.Mentor Foundation

Teach.Lead.Mentor Foundation It is public knowledge that South Africa’s education system is in a dismal state.

Teach.Lead.Mentor Foundation (TLM) was established in September 2013, a registered Non-Profit Organization with the Department of Social Development (registration number NPO-126-902), with the objective to give more educational opportunities to the youth of South Africa, so as to capacitate them to identify themselves as proud, confident young adults who will significantly contribute to the econom

y of South Africa. However, TLM still believes that the door to South Africa’s growth and development is education, and education is also the key to decreasing inequality and eradicating poverty, socio-economic ills challenging the bulk of our country. With the strategic use of relevant tools and resources, timeously delivered to the young people of South Africa, an improved positive mind-set will be ushered in, hope revived and an ambitious spirit within them will be born-again. According to the National Development Plan, “Education, training and innovation are not a solution to all problems, but society’s ability to solve problems, develop competitively, eliminate poverty and reduce inequality is severely hampered without them. Schools are the building blocks for learning and socialisation.” TLM stands together with all stakeholders that are tirelessly working towards effectively improving the state of South Africa’s education system and is committed to building sustainable partnerships and collaborations to make the difference needed as well. TLM has a vision to be the organization of choice for disadvantaged young people to acquire the necessary skills needed to advance themselves in both their personal and professional lives. Our formal objective is to provide career-related information as well as academic and life skills to young people around the country who might not easily have access to, or have the means to afford to acquire them. This will be done by:

• Giving young people professional education, training and skills development opportunities by offering them academic skills for free.
• Using intensive programmes aimed at developing young people’s ability to manage themselves and develop life skills relevant to this day and age.
• Timeously delivering tools and resources that will help young people located and situated in remote, isolated and disadvantaged areas of South Africa with their primary and tertiary educational studies.
• Timeously delivering, in every aspect, any information needed by the South African young person to make appropriate and relevant career-related decisions.
• Developing young people’s leadership skills.

Work Readiness Post-Training Initiative - International Firefighters' Commemoration Day🧑‍🚒🚒🚨🔥

As part of our ongoing commitment to youth empowerment, skills development, and work readiness, our Social Employment Fund programme participants attended the International Firefighters' Commemoration Day held at the Rustenburg Civic Centre as well as at the Rustenburg Fire Department.

The initiative formed part of our post-training support programme aimed at exposing participants to career pathways, employment opportunities, and professional environments aligned with the Work Readiness Training by NACOSA conducted on 30 March 2026.

The event provided participants with valuable insight into the emergency services sector, including career opportunities within firefighting, disaster management, public safety, and related fields.🧑‍🚒🚒🚨🔥

It also created a platform for engagement with professionals and stakeholders who shared knowledge, experiences, and guidance on workplace expectations, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and service to communities.

Through initiatives such as these, we continue to bridge the gap between training and employment by equipping young people with practical exposure, networking opportunities, and the confidence needed to navigate the world of work successfully.

We remain committed to creating meaningful opportunities that inspire growth, career development, and active participation in building safer and stronger communities.

Stakeholder Engagement | Freedom Day Commemoration

Stakeholder engagement forms part of our broader commitment to building collaborative partnerships, fostering open communication, and ensuring inclusive participation in initiatives that advance community development, social cohesion, and public awareness.

These platforms create meaningful opportunities to align efforts, exchange knowledge, strengthen relationships, and encourage collective action among all stakeholders.

We honoured an invitation from the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) to participate in the Freedom Day Commemoration held at the University of South Africa (UNISA) campus in Rustenburg.

The engagement focused on strengthening democracy, promoting human rights awareness, and encouraging active citizenship among young people and community members.

Discussions highlighted the importance of protecting constitutional values, advancing equality, and empowering communities to actively participate in shaping a just and inclusive society.

We appreciate the opportunity to engage alongside various stakeholders committed to building a stronger democratic future for all. Through continued collaboration and dialogue, we remain dedicated to supporting initiatives that promote education, human dignity, social justice, and community empowerment.

Health Talk at Sunrisepark Clinic

We had the privilege of conducting a health talk at Sunrisepark Clinic, where we engaged directly with members of the community on the importance of prioritising their health and wellbeing.

The session created a valuable platform for open discussion, awareness, and empowerment around accessing healthcare services, particularly HAST services (HIV, AIDS, STI and TB services).

We encouraged community members to continue taking charge of their health by attending regular check-ups, seeking information, and making use of the healthcare services available to them.

We also emphasised the importance of speaking up and advocating for better healthcare experiences at community clinics. Every patient deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and professionalism, and community voices play a crucial role in improving service delivery within our healthcare system.

Together, we can build healthier communities through education, support, and active participation in healthcare matters.

Building Resilience and Stronger Futures Through Fatherhood and Positive Values💙

On 28 April 2026, our Social Employment Fund programme participants had the privilege of taking part in a meaningful and inspiring initiative hosted by Heartlines through their impactful Fathers Matter programme.

Heartlines is a South African NGO dedicated to helping address social challenges by encouraging people to move from simply professing positive values to truly living them in their everyday lives.

Their work continues to inspire stronger families, healthier relationships, and more resilient communities.

The session was facilitated by renowned motivational speaker Mr Bapaletswe Diphoko, who delivered a powerful and engaging presentation focused on building resilience, self-worth, and personal growth among our participants.

Through meaningful discussions and practical insights, the session highlighted the vital role that fathers and positive male role models play in the lives of children. When fathers are actively and positively involved, they can dramatically shape a child’s confidence, emotional wellbeing, and overall outlook on life.

Our participants left the session motivated, encouraged, and empowered with valuable lessons on responsibility, resilience, and the importance of strong family support systems.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Heartlines and the Fathers Matter team for investing in the growth and wellbeing of our participants.

Together, we continue building stronger individuals and stronger communities.

📍 Outreach Activities at Rostec College, Rustenburg Campus

Our recent Social Employment Fund programme outreach session at Rostec College, Rustenburg Campus focused on empowering students with knowledge and practical guidance to make informed life choices.

Students were engaged in important conversations around the risks associated with unprotected s*x, unsafe transactional s*x, and other behaviours that may negatively affect their health, wellbeing, and future opportunities.

Together, we continue to create safe spaces for young people to learn, grow, and thrive. 💙

📢 Community Outreach in Action | Sunrise Park 🌍❤️

Outreach activities continue on the streets of Sunrise Park, where our dedicated teams are engaging directly with community members — particularly young people — through meaningful conversations and awareness campaigns focused on health promotion and HIV prevention.

The sessions focused on educating youth about the importance of combating HIV through the U=U message (Undetectable = Untransmittable), encouraging HIV testing, treatment adherence, and reducing stigma and discrimination associated with HIV and AIDS.

As part of the campaign, participants also received education on safer s*xual practices, including the correct and consistent use of condoms. Condoms were distributed to community members to promote prevention and encourage responsible decision-making among young people.

Through these outreach initiatives, we continue to empower communities with accurate information, support, and prevention strategies that contribute towards building healthier and safer communities for all. ❤️
