TEENAGE GIRL (19) ALLEGEDLY STABBED TO DEATH BY “MALUME” (26) IN GIYANI
GIYANI – A 19-year-old woman was tragically killed after being stabbed at her home in Mavalani New Stand, Giyani, on Saturday morning, 18 April 2026.
According to police reports, officers responded to a complaint of assault GBH. Upon arrival at the scene, they were met by family members who pointed out the victim, who was found with multiple stab wounds.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was allegedly attacked by her uncle, aged 26, using a sharp object in what is believed to be a domestic violence-related incident. After the attack, the suspect reportedly attempted to flee the scene.
Community members, alerted by screams from the suspect’s siblings, acted swiftly and managed to apprehend him before handing him over to the police.
Paramedics declared the victim deceased at the scene.
The motive behind the incident remains unclear at this stage, although domestic violence has not been ruled out.
The 26-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 20 April 2026, facing a charge of murder.
