Four Lives Lost in Horror R510 Crash
Platinum Bushvelder newspaper | Northam โ Tragedy struck on the R510 near Limberg Mine on Tuesday morning, 26 May 2026, when a devastating motor vehicle accident claimed the lives of four people and left another critically injured.
According to information received, Thaba Fire and Rescue responded to the scene at approximately 08:44 after reports of a serious collision. Four occupants tragically died at the scene, while one critically injured passenger was rushed to Amandelbult Hospital for urgent medical treatment. The driver of the second vehicle, who was the sole occupant, reportedly escaped with only minor injuries.
The severity of the crash also disrupted railway operations in the area, with Transnet temporarily halting train movement between Thabazimbi and Northam until the scene had been cleared and declared safe.
Numerous emergency and support teams worked together during the response, including the Amandelbult Fire Team, Northam Platinum NPL Fire Team, P&K Towing and Recovery, Thaba Fire and Rescue, Netcare 911, Limpopo EMS, Limpopo Forensics, SAPS, the Thabazimbi Traffic Department and the Limpopo Traffic Department. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
