It seeks to reduce new HIV infections in adoles
cent girls and young women (AGYW) in ten sub-Saharan African countries, including South Africa. DREAMS is about using multiple evidence-based interventions that go beyond the health sector, to address the structural drivers that directly and/or indirectly increase girls’ and young women’s HIV risk, including (but not limited to) poverty, gender inequality, violence, and lack of education. Keeping girls and young women HIV-free also positively impacts their overall health, education, development and wellbeing.
