Home of Hope

Home of Hope Home of Hope is a npo that cares for abused and abandoned children in South Africa For more information, please visit http://www.homeofhope.co.za/

Home of Hope is a non-profit organisation that cares for abused and abandoned children in South Africa, especially those suffering from Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) - permanent brain damage caused by pre-natal exposure to alcohol. We do so because we believe that every child has the right to reach their full potential. Home of Hope is uniquely structured to overcome the challenges of providing care to children suffering from FASD who have emotional and learning disabilities. Our approach is holistic and tailored to the individual needs of each child in our care. We provide a loving and stable home environment; we address the child’s emotional and therapeutic needs and also facilitate their schooling - be that in a mainstream or our special needs school, Amathemba - the first and only school in South Africa catering to children with FASD. Our work has a long-term, sustainable impact by equipping children with essential life and social skills and encouraging their integration into the local community in which they live.

A little break, good company, and time to catch up.

At Anselm Farm, our young adults in the skills programme enjoy their lunch breaks together, sharing stories, having a chat and spending time with one another.

Being part of a team is about more than daily activities. It’s also about sharing experiences, building friendships and enjoying time together.

Your support helps us continue providing care and opportunities for our young adults.

Visit www.homeofhope.co.za to find out how you can make a difference.

Every Step Forward Matters
Learning to write is an important part of a child’s development. For children with FASD, developing skills like holding a pencil, forming letters, colouring within lines and practising writing can take time, patience and lots of practice.

At Amathemba Special Needs School, our children are given the support and encouragement they need to keep practising and developing these important skills.
Seeing them concentrate, practise and work through their activities makes every little step worth celebrating.

We are proud of the progress our children continue to make.

Would you like to make a difference in their education?
Your support can help provide the resources, education and support our children need to keep learning and growing.

A Special Day at Amathemba

A big thank you to the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) for spending the day with the children at our Amathemba Special Needs School.

The CTICC team brought books and spent time reading with the children, playing games and enjoying some fun together. They also brought snacks for the children to enjoy.

It was a lovely day of reading, playing and spending time together. We appreciate the time and effort the CTICC team put into making the day special for our children.

Thank you, CTICC!

Leah’s Little World Is Growing.

Leah has been with us for a short while now, and we’re starting to see more of her little personality shine through every day.

She loves being outside, climbing on the jungle gym, playing with her little trucks and riding the outdoor bikes. These moments are helping Leah feel comfortable, feel safe and find her place here.

At just 3 years old, Leah has so much ahead of her. Her care includes the everyday things she needs as she grows, nutritious meals, clothing, healthcare, education, care and support.

You can help make sure Leah has what she needs as she grows.

Through our Sponsor-a-Child programme, your monthly support helps provide for children like Leah and gives them the care and support they need every day.

👉 Sponsor a child today and be part of Leah’s journey.

A little paint, a little dirt and lots of fun!

Our children had such a lovely time at Kids Dig This: A Garden Adventure at Bayside Mall.

Each child got to paint their own pot, plant their own little plant and enjoy getting creative with gardening.

Now, their plants have found a new home at our Child and Youth Care Centre, where they can watch them grow and take care of them.

A fun day can turn into something special that they can enjoy and watch grow.

We’re so proud of one of our young adults at Anselm Farm, who passed his driving licence a few months ago!

He now assists with certain collections around the farm, helping with some of the daily tasks that need to be done.

This is a big achievement for him, and we’re proud to see him reach a goal like this. At Home of Hope, we do our best to support each young adult in reaching what they are capable of, recognising that everyone has their own abilities, strengths and goals.

We cannot do this without people like you.
Please support our cause and help us continue caring for children and young adults who have experienced abuse, abandonment and neglect.
