As we close out Women’s Month, we want to celebrate Filicia Mouries 🫒 When the pandemic brought South Africa’s hospitality industry to a standstill, Filicia made a courageous decision - she stepped out of everything she knew and into the olive groves of Tokara W**e & Olive Farm.

What followed was a journey of hard work, dedication and remarkable growth. From learning the technical demands of olive oil production from scratch, to developing her palate as an olive oil taster, to earning the trust of her team and leading production shifts - Filicia embraced every challenge with notebooks in hand and a determination to master her craft.

In 2025, she was named SA Olive Industry Association Agri Worker of the Year - a recognition she never expected but one that perfectly captured everything she had quietly built.

“Sometimes other people see your growth and resilience before you see it yourself.”

To Filicia - thank you for reminding us what courage, hard work and humility look like. This Women’s Month, your story is one worth celebrating 🌿

What a privilege to have been part of the second South African Preserve Championships, presented by Agri-Expo🫒

As an industry partner, SA Olive Industry Association was proud to support this incredible celebration of quality, innovation and heritage in South African preserve-making - where 700 entries from 85 manufacturers competed across 13 categories.

Congratulations to every winner - and a special mention to Darling Olives for taking home the win in the Olives category 🙌South African producers continue to showcase the very best this country has to offer 🏆

Out in the field at the SA Olive Industry Association Technical Field Day 🫒🌿

The field session at Morgenster Estate brought the day’s discussions into the olive grove, with producers and industry experts taking a closer look at the trees and sharing observations from their own experience.

With integrated pest and disease management on the agenda, along with the insects associated with wild and cultivated olives in South Africa, there was plenty to look at and discuss among the trees.

A hands-on look at some of the challenges and considerations that form part of managing olive orchards in South Africa.
