This weekend, our co-founder Daniel was part of an advisory group, alongside Oasis-Reach for your dreams & Open Play Foundation NPC, helping coaches in the British Council Premier League Community Coach Development Program create action plans for driving positive change through sport in their communities. It was great to have Xoliswa representing our coaching team! We always love to see coaches pushing themselves to grow on & off the pitch.

We had an incredible day celebrating Women’s Day with our amazing primary school girls. Thank you Dorothea Special School for hosting a fun filled WAFCON themed day with soccer, purposeful play, face painting & delicious food. Thanks to Open Play Foundation NPC & Belgotex Sport Ivan’s Community Arena was an incredible venue for our girls & their families. Thank you Laureus South Africa for your ongoing support. Thank you aQuellé for keeping our girls hydrated, Cape Winelands DM for donating the balls for the tournament & our good friends from East Mountain South Africa & Serve Stellenbosch for bringing the girls so much joy off the field. Good teamwork everyone! We look creating more opportunities for girls to enjoy soccer in Stellenbosch.

70 years ago today, over 20,000 women marched in Pretoria to fight for human rights, gender equality & social justice. "You strike a woman, you strike a rock," they said. On this , we honor the amazing women who follow in their footsteps & do so much to empower our young – our co-founder Kendra, our coaches, the Serve Stellenbosch volunteers, the East Mountain South Africa residents & Autumn from Courageous Care. We salute you! To the mothers & stand-in mothers who support our kids each day, thank you! Empowered Women Empower The Nation!

It was a joy & privilege for us to be part of launching Ivan’s Community Arena at today. Huge thank you to & your incredible collaboration with + the many others who helped to turn this dream into a reality. This adds immense value to the weekly futsal sessions we coach + the daily work the amazing teachers are doing to provide a healing-centered safe space for the learners. Thank you to the incredible Dorothea team for your inspiring work. Thank you for supporting our work & for being with us in sporting spirit.

It’s an immense privilege for us to partner with Courageous Care to provide trauma-informed care to our ! We are grateful for the opportunity our academy staff had this week to learn more about combining trauma-informed care principles and coaching to help ensure we are providing healing-centered sport experiences. We believe what The Center for Healing and Justice through Sport says: Nothing Heals Like Sport!

As a proudly antiracist organization, we believe spreading fear & hate against people is wrong. It’s a harmful distraction from the crime, unemployment, poverty, inequality, & corrupt leadership that plague people across South Africa each day. May we instead draw near to people from diverse backgrounds; listening, learning how live at peace with each other & working together to create a world full of justice, dignity & equity for all.

Fathers matter! When they are present & positively engaged, children thrive & are less likely to face mental health challenges, addiction & violence. Sadly, fatherlessness is endemic across the world. To those men who choose to be present fathers, we salute you! Thank you!

To those who carry father wounds, we echo Dr. Mzamo Masito’s words, “You are not broken because your father left. You are not worthless because he didn’t stay. You are not destined to repeat his mistakes. There are men who will stand for you, fight for you, and show you what fathers look like.” No child should grow up believing men don’t stay. Fatherless must not define another generation. We are committed to raising boys who become men who raise their children with love.
