Celebrating Growth at Raithby Primary

From February to May, Usiko facilitated 10 sessions with 22 learners at Raithby Primary.

Throughout the programme, we witnessed learners exploring different emotions, building confidence, and developing meaningful connections with one another. Over time, participants became increasingly comfortable expressing themselves and sharing their experiences in a safe and supportive environment.

By the final session, the growth and impact of the journey were clearly visible. The learners demonstrated courage, openness, and a willingness to engage in their own personal development.

As facilitators, we are incredibly proud of each participant and grateful to have walked alongside them on this journey. We wish them every success as they continue to grow and navigate the path ahead.

As we wrap up another year of support at Petunia Primary, we celebrate the completion of 10 group sessions with 17 learners who participated throughout the programme.

Over the past year, positive growth and progress have been observed among participants, with learners showing improved engagement and benefiting from a safe space where they could connect, learn, and receive support.

After 10 inspiring Life Skills sessions and an unforgettable Wilderness Camp, we proudly congratulate the learners of the Cloetesville Primary School Usiko Life Skills Group on successfully completing the programme!

Throughout this journey, these young leaders have shown courage, resilience, teamwork, respect, and a willingness to grow. Child Protection Week 2026

Every child deserves to grow up feeling safe, loved, protected, and valued.

Child abuse is not always visible. It can take many forms, including physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and emotional abuse. By learning the signs and speaking up when something doesn't seem right, we can all play a role in protecting children.

Remember:
โœ… Anyone can report suspected child abuse. โœ… You do not need proof to raise a concern. โœ… One report could change โ€“ or even save โ€“ a child's life.

At Usiko, we believe that protecting children is a shared responsibility. During Child Protection Week, we encourage communities, families, schools, and organisations to work together to create safe spaces where children can thrive.

If you suspect that a child is being harmed, neglected, or is at risk, please report it to the relevant authorities or child protection services.

Speak up. Protect our children. Together, we can build safer communities and brighter futures for every child.

In May 2026, Usiko Stellenbosch NPO celebrates 25 years of community development, youth empowerment, wilderness therapy, and restorative transformation across South Africa and beyond.

From our roots in Jamestown, Stellenbosch, to partnerships in Brandvlei, Ashton, Ocean View, Limpopo, and international collaborations across Namibia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Costa Rica, the USA, the Netherlands, the UK, and Germany, Usikoโ€™s journey has always been about helping young people rise above adversity and discover purpose, resilience, and belonging.

To celebrate this milestone, we proudly launch our โ€œBrick for Brick โ€“ Building a Better Futureโ€ Campaign soon.

As part of this unique fundraising journey, Usiko will undertake the Five Summits Challenge โ€” carrying the Usiko 25th Anniversary Flag to five iconic summits across Southern Africa, including the legendary Thabana Ntlenyana (3,482m), the highest peak in Southern Africa.
This challenge symbolises the journey of every young person in our programmes:
From the valleys of trauma and hardshipโ€ฆ to the peaks of hope, leadership, healing, and resilience.

What an unforgettable and fruitful Wilderness Camp experience for the learners of Cloetesville Primary School at Bainskloof Campsite from 15โ€“17 May 2026! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ•๏ธ

This weekend was filled with growth, laughter, teamwork, adventure, and valuable life lessons. Our learners stepped out of their comfort zones, built new friendships, developed leadership skills, and created memories that will stay with them for years to come.

Surrounded by the beauty of nature at Bainskloof, the learners had the opportunity to connect, learn, and grow together in a safe and encouraging environment.

We are incredibly proud of every learner for their participation, positive attitudes, and willingness to learn throughout the camp. A special thank you to all facilitators, educators, parents, and everyone who contributed to making this camp such a success.

A special thank you to the Department of Social Development for the continued support for the processes and programmes that Usiko run.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined and supported the Eagle Group Foundation Golf Day on Friday, of which Usiko was a beneficiary.

The day was not only about golf, networking and community spirit, it was also an opportunity to reflect on the lives being transformed through the work we do in Jamestown and beyond.

As one of the beneficiaries shared, Usiko takes young people from different walks of life, environments and circumstances through a journey of transformation, growth and self-discovery.

Through our wilderness programmes, young people are challenged to reconnect with themselves, find meaning and build resilience.

We were also honoured to have Stellenbosch Mayor Jeremy Fasser commend Usiko and acknowledge the impact of the work being done in our communities.
