🌱Growing Together 🌱

A massive thank you to Kirchhoffs for their incredibly generous donation of vegetable seeds to our NPO! With over 130 years of gardening heritage in South Africa, Kirchhoffs knows exactly what it takes to cultivate growth.

These high-quality, non-GMO seeds are going directly into our community projects to help build sustainable food security, promote self-reliance, and green our local spaces. Watch the video to see the impact of this wonderful partnership!

Hope restored: The Road to healing begins

CRIME STOP CBD: UPDATE ON HUMANITARIAN AID

This marks our 66th assistance provided to the homeless and vagrants, giving them a much-needed second chance in life.
This is just one of several community initiatives dedicated to rejuvenating our town and restoring it into the thriving business hub it used to be. Through these efforts, crime has been drastically reduced, and we are proudly experiencing a much cleaner town as well.

Restoring Hope: The 66th Success Story of Our Humanitarian Initiative

Our Crime Stop CBD Humanitarian Vagrant Initiative continues to change lives. Today, we are assisting a young man who has been stranded in our town for three years.

He has expressed a sincere desire to enter a rehabilitation program and, ultimately, return home to his child in Pietermaritzburg. We are committed to supporting him through his recovery and ensuring he is safely reunited with his family once he has completed his journey to sobriety.

Since November 2025, this program has successfully helped over 66 individuals find a path out of the streets and back to their loved ones.

Community and safety first.

*Proactive Night Patrol Targets Crime in Dawnside*

Working late into the night, Crime Stop CBD, in partnership with the White Hawks team, conducted a sweep of abandoned houses in the Dawnside area. This operation follows a recent spike in reported vehicle break-ins.
During the search, the team:

Located 15 vagrants occupying a single property.

Recovered several dangerous weapons and suspected stolen property.

All individuals were removed from the premises and warned against returning. We remain committed to reclaiming our streets and ensuring the safety of our residents.

KwaDukuza: Floating in sewage and faeces—an environmental disaster for years - PART 3 UPDATE!
📍Gledhow
*NOT FOR SENSITIVE VIEWERS*

Despite conducting follow-up inspections of all previously reported overflow sites, I have observed zero improvement. Following meetings and telephonic discussions with iLembe, it has been revealed that the specialized vehicle required to resolve residential overflows is currently grounded because it is unlicensed.
This is a staggering indictment of how Ilembe prioritizes the community’s well-being. Residents are currently forced to live with sewage backflowing into their kitchen sinks and "sewer waterfalls" at their front doors. The resulting environmental degradation and the contamination of our rivers are unacceptable. The lack of basic administrative compliance regarding this machinery shows a total lack of respect for the people of KwaDukuza.

Cllr Aresh Singh remains active on the ground, working to resolve issues within the CBD while educating the public on the legal consequences of purchasing stolen goods.
Earlier today, the Crime Stop-CBD team apprehended an individual following a theft at a local retail outlet. Crime Stop took the suspect to show where he had sold the stolen goods. We continue to urge the community to support our local businesses by refusing to buy suspected stolen property.

*UKUKUSIZA COMMUNITY MINI-GARDEN PROJECT*

The Ukukusiza Community Mini-Garden Project is a dedicated outreach initiative serving vulnerable communities within the KwaDukuza area created and funded by Aresh Singh. For over seven years, this project has addressed food insecurity by transforming underutilized backyard spaces into productive, sustainable sources of nutrition.
*Our Impact & Logistics*:

Comprehensive Seed Supply: We provide diverse seed packs including beans, maize, onions, tomatoes, spinach, lettuce, cabbage, beetroot, green peppers, chilies, pumpkins, and squash.

*Infrastructure & Growth*: To scale our impact, we have established a high-capacity greenhouse capable of cultivating 25,000 seedlings simultaneously, ensuring a consistent supply for new and existing gardens.

*Proven Success*: To date, we have successfully established over 250 home gardens, providing families with the tools to put healthy food on their tables.

Beyond food security, this initiative fosters local job creation and ensures that high-quality nutrition is accessible to those who need it most. All seeds and seedlings are provided free of charge to qualifying residents with adequate gardening space.

KwaDukuza: Floating in sewage and faeces—an environmental disaster for years - PART 1
Lindley street and Gizenga street(the tunnel)
Action SA Ilembe

This is awareness from Cllr Aresh Singh, Chairperson of the odour and enviromental committee. Creating awareness on a critical environmental and health hazard that is not receiving the attention it needs

For years, the KwaDukuza community has been subjected to a worsening environmental disaster. Despite numerous complaints, the situation remains unaddressed, leaving businesses and residents exhausted and ignored.
We are tired of the unbearable odour from pools of raw sewage and faeces that flow freely into our local streams. This is a systemic failure with a devastating reach: these contaminated streams feed directly into the Umvoti River, which eventually carries this raw effluent onto the shores of Blythedale Beach. This is a public health crisis and a total environmental catastrophe that requires immediate, permanent intervention.
