This is a community talent showcase rather than a competition. The focus is on giving participants the opportunity to perform, exhibit their work, gain valuable experience and receive constructive feedback from experienced assessors in the relevant fields of Dance, Music, Art and Drama.

Entry is 𝗥𝟮𝟬 per person, per entry, and both solo and group entries are welcome.

Each participant will receive a certificate together with their assessment and feedback notes, giving them something meaningful to take away from the experience.

As with all community talent showcases, there are no prizes or placings. The emphasis is on participation, growth, confidence and giving local talent the opportunity to be seen and supported by the East Rand community.

All ages are welcome.

Today marks an incredible day in history for Springs Central. We got to go to Gilwell and celebrate Samual Van de Griendt receiving his Springbok award. Nervous but very well earned. It was a wonderful day, great weather. Amazing accomplishment. Well done to his parents, grandparents and mentors. Without your guidance and motivation, this would not be possible without you.

Happy Heritage Day 🇿🇦

Heritage is about more than remembering where we come from. It is also about what we choose to carry forward.

In Scouting, traditions may be passed from one generation to the next, but so are the things behind them: service, friendship, responsibility, practical skills, leadership and respect for others.

We're proud to be part of a movement with a long history, while helping today's young people build the confidence and skills they will carry into tomorrow.

This Heritage Day, we celebrate what has shaped us, what connects us, and what we pass on.

One of the highest achievable Challenge Awards for Scouts is that of the Cord or Thong. The achievement of any one of these indicates a well-roundedness of Scouting skills and interests. Cords can only be earned by Scouts who have their First Class Advancement.

This year, Samuel van de Griendt has earned TWO of these awards! As each cord required 15 Interest Badges, including 6 compulsory badges, this is not an easy accomplishment.

In April, Samuel earned the Bushman's Thong Award, which focuses on Scouting skills such as First Aid, Mapping, and Survival.
Then in August he completed the Service Cord requirements, which focused on Environmental Awareness, Safety, and Public Health.

These are the first cords earned at Springs Central Air Scouts in over a decade, so we are extremely proud of Samuel's achievements!
