𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹’𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘁.💙🧡

In the weeks leading up to the weekend, our Scouts spent time preparing, practising pioneering skills and lashings, working through how structures come together, getting equipment ready, and even making their Field Day shirts.

Then, once they arrived, those skills had to be put into practice.

The team worked together to build their camp and stepped into a much bigger Field Day environment alongside Scouts from across Gauteng.

For us, this is an important part of what Scouting offers young people. A lashing is not only a knot around a pole. Building a structure asks for patience, accuracy, planning, problem-solving and teamwork, and eventually the confidence to get on with the job themselves.

Field Day was Springs Central Air Scouts’ first time taking part, so there was plenty to learn along the way.

And judging by the spirit they brought to the weekend, they certainly made themselves at home. 😄🏆

Springs Central spirit brought home a trophy. 🏆💙🧡

This weekend our Scouts headed to Field Day ready to take part, support one another, have fun and represent Springs Central Air Scouts.

They came home with 1st Place in the Spirit Trophy and this one means a great deal to us.

The Spirit Trophy is voted for by the judges, and every judge voted for Springs Central Air Scouts.

Anyone who heard the singing, cheering and encouragement throughout the weekend will probably understand why. 😄

This award belongs to the whole troop. It reflects the friendships, enthusiasm, support for one another and sense of belonging that we are so proud to see growing within Springs Central.

Well done, team. You certainly made your presence felt at Field Day 2026. 🏆

𝗔 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀’ 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘆. 🏆💙🧡

Field Day brings Scouts from across Gauteng together for a weekend of camping and competition, where they put practical Scout skills to the test through challenges involving teamwork, problem-solving, pioneering, first aid, cooking, navigation, and even a shooting competition, amongst other activities.

This year was Springs Central’s first time taking part, and our team came home with 1st Place in the Spirit Trophy.

What makes this one particularly special is that every judge voted for Springs Central Air Scouts.

The award also reflects something we value deeply within our Group: encouraging one another, showing up as a team, enjoying the experience together and creating that sense of belonging that makes Scouting about far more than the competition itself.

Well done to our Scouts and Scouters. What a way to mark our first Field Day. 🏆💙🧡

A Springs teenager has reached a major milestone after years of dedication to Scouting.

Aviation can begin with one question, one visit or one moment of seeing something up close.

The Air Scout programme gives young people opportunities to explore aviation, navigation, weather, engineering and other technical interests through age-appropriate activities and experiences.

Not every Scout will choose a career in aviation, but curiosity, observation and a willingness to learn can open many different paths.

This is one of the things that makes Springs Central Air Scouts distinctive: adventure is connected with practical learning and a wider view of what may be possible.

This Women’s Day, we celebrate the girls and women who are part of Springs Central Air Scouts.

Across our Group, girls are learning new skills, earning recognition for their efforts, taking part in Scout traditions and discovering opportunities that can open their world.

Alongside them are women who give their time, knowledge and encouragement to help young people grow in confidence, take responsibility and discover what they are capable of.

We’re proud to see girls and women playing an active part in Scouting in Springs. Here’s to the girls finding their feet, finding their interests and discovering just how much they can do.

Belonging is an important part of growing up, but young people also need opportunities to contribute.

During activities like pioneering, each person has a part to play. They learn to communicate, listen to different ideas, take responsibility and work towards a shared result. Over time, those small moments of participation can develop into confidence and leadership.

Scouting gives young people a place to build friendships while learning that their contribution matters.

This past Saturday started early for two of our Scouts and Dakota, who attended the EAA Chapter 322 Gathering at Rand Airport before joining us for our Scout Scarf Day activities later in the day. ✈️⚜️

It was a wonderful opportunity to spend time in an aviation environment, see a variety of aircraft up close and learn more from people who share a genuine passion for flying.

As Air Scouts, experiences like these bring an important part of our programme to life. Thank you to EAA Chapter 322 for welcoming our young people and giving them another memorable morning surrounded by aviation.
