GAUTENG MEC VUYISWA RAMOKGOPA TO HOST AI APP DEVELOPMENT CHALLENGE IN SOWETO

Gauteng MEC for Economic Development, Agriculture and Rural Development, Vuyiswa Ramokgopa, will host the AI App Development Challenge as part of the province's Youth Month 2026 programme at the Boundless Soweto Campus in, Diepkloof Zone 3, Soweto

The challenge will bring together 50 unemployed IT graduates who will work in teams to develop artificial intelligence-powered solutions aimed at addressing challenges facing community and township economies.

The initiative seeks to equip young people with practical experience in innovation while promoting digital skills development, entrepreneurship and problem-solving capabilities.

MEC Ramokgopa is expected to engage with participants and observe the development and presentation of innovative AI-driven solutions designed to tackle real-world challenges.

The challenge forms part of Gauteng's ongoing efforts to empower young people through technology, innovation and skills development, while creating opportunities for youth participation in the growing digital economy.-
