A Message of Hope and Urgency
Speaking at the event, Noni Tshabalala, Founder of Ikfutsa Lembe, emphasized the importance of immediate action and support:
βHelp is here. It is high time that those who are willing to stop using drugs take that first step. Support systems are available, and recovery is possible.β
Zakes Manda, Founder of Nyeleti Lighthouse, highlighted the severity of the crisis facing communities:
βOur community is facing what I call a pandemic. In 1 out of every 3 households, there is either a drug addict or a family directly affected by drug abuse. This outreach program is about offering a second chance in life, a chance for people to say NO to drugs.β
A Call to Action
This outreach program is more than a once-off intervention, it is part of a growing movement to reclaim communities, restore lives, and provide sustainable pathways to recovery.
The organisers call on:
Community members
Local businesses
Government stakeholders
Civil society organisations
