Each year, up to 12 generous garden owners in and around Somerset West, Strand, and the wider Helderberg basin open their private gardens to visitors. These are not show gardens or public parks.

They are personal, lived-in spaces, cared for by the people who call them home, and shared with the public as a meaningful act of community support. From sweeping indigenous landscapes and formal topiaries to intimate cottage gardens and waterwise urban sanctuaries, no two gardens on the route are alike.

Think clever container planting, tucked away corners brought to life, and indigenous, butterfly friendly plants thriving in the most compact spaces. Keep an eye out for a bed of rose quartz that you won't forget. 💗

If you live in a townhouse, a complex, or anywhere with a patio instead of a paddock, this is the one for you. Bring a notebook, because you'll leave with ideas you can start using the very next weekend.

Join Seef Somerset West at Padel 4 a Cause on Thursday, 15 October, at PadelX Somerset West, for an evening of fun, friendly competition and fundraising.

With four pools of four teams, exciting prizes and plenty of padel action, it’s the perfect opportunity to get on court, enjoy the game and make a difference.
