At SADRA, we proudly work hand‑in‑hand with communities and community leaders to strengthen families and build safer neighbourhoods.
Through this partnership, we’ve trained Community Leaders, Chaplains, and Spiritual Crime Prevention Leaders in Conflict Mediation. These leaders are already helping families resolve conflicts peacefully, creating harmony and stability at home.
Both the International Organization for Migration (2008) and the National Development Plan (NDP) 2030 point out an important challenge: many South African families lack the tools and capacity to manage conflict constructively.
The NDP specifically emphasises:
💛 Strengthening the foundations of social and economic development
💛 Building safer communities
💛 Enhancing social cohesion and unity across society.
SADRA’s grassroots work confirms these national priorities. Our discovery is clear:
✨ When families learn peaceful conflict resolution, they stay united.
✨ United families create stable, loving homes.
✨ Children in such homes thrive, remain in school, and are less vulnerable to gang recruitment or dropping out.
Together—with communities and community leaders—we are helping families become strong, resilient pillars of safer communities and brighter futures. 🌟

Our team is working very hard on preparing for our upcoming Eastern Cape Community Mediator Training workshops in Mthatha on the 24th and Bizana on the 31st. We're excited to add more mediators to the SADRA Community Mediation teams.

A truly engaging week with the students from the Khayelitsha and Nyanga school communities. The SADRA Conflict & Peer Mediation Youth Training camps equip our young people with the skills to deal with conflict, not only in their school communities but also internally. A highlight of the workshop was having over 5 coaches / group leaders from previous workshops, as far back as 2018. We look forward to hearing about he mediations that will take place in their school communities.
