o everyone of you who wished me a great time for my Birthday today, I really would like to say Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
My 2 Boys, their Friend and I just did something very basic today like going out and chase bird. Boys were more on numbers for Dad but also very keen to see what my last number for my birthday bird. After some very relaxed birding with great fun Pigmy Goose turned up to be my bird number 46 -Which was awesome and that we later celebrated. All my Kids although not birders from the 14-year-Old to-24-year-Old can identify almost up to 400 birds and above.
We had to start our Day birding around my Compound which in itself is very rich in birdlife, then move on to Crocodile Centre, later Joined Fannas Hippo and Croc Boat Cruises - one of the very reliable boat company in St.Lucia,then head up north towards Cape Vidal and Catalina Bay. On the way back Owethu spotted a Leopard! A beautiful Male lying next to the road. This was his first Leopard ever. What an excitement to everybody. Unfortunately, We had all our Batteries exhausted and couldn't take any pictures of this magnificent Cat. He was just very relaxed from the side of the road before he could take a slow stroll up the road. This was about 500m from the Catelina Turnoff. We directed some people to go see him, hopefully they did.

Time spent with these specials Kids was really more rewarding and rejuvenating for me.

Vukukhanye Dev project conducted an environmental awareness campaign in conjunction with Sicabazini EnviroClub.

The event which involved cleaning up.the small lirrie town and Pongola river in Northern Zululand saw most of its dirty streets clean. It was disappointing to see how local vendors were not worried about rubbish around them. We tool some time to encourage people and their customers to take responsibility n not polite their areas and river they live around with. We will try to richout to the local Municipality for the increase of dustbins in the area as they were very few.

Pongola river still had a problem with more water Hyacinth. We should try to look at this through our next monitoring program

Other activities detected by Mpempe pan environmental club are shown below and need a lot intervention especially 'gill-netting; over grazing; pollution; and growing trends of growing eucalyptus close to Mpempe pans.

Vukukhanye Development Project in conjunction with Zulubirding & Ecotours have help to trained up to 100 guides to date. Most of this has been made successfully through a lot of private donors who support transformation.

Today Vukukhanye has been able to give birth to quite few other environmental Wings namely Mpempe pan environmental Club and Sicabazin Environmental clubs in northern Zululand. These clubs are consist of nature lovers and environmental monitors who were previously trained by iSimangaliso Wetland Park through National Department of Tourism skill programs. Clubs now ensure to look after their own Wetlands and will soon be in full control of any activities around these areas. There is a great need to support these local youth clubs. I will share the clubs links and details as soon as they are ready. Thank you
