Hi ho! Hi ho! And off to play they go!
Some time off and a fun afternoon for our Lions and a great social "get to know you" time for new Lion, Debbie Orford and hubby Steve.

Much appreciation has been voiced to Bob, Elaine, Pedro and Peter for their organisational prowess.

Our Lion of the Month is current President, Lion Ali Watson.

Q) What inspired you to join the Lions Club?
A) Growing up my family was often helped by neighbours and our local church, so I guess, I wanted to pay this forward. When Eric and I moved to Sedgefield we got roped in to marshall at the marathon and cycle race for the Oyster Festival. We learnt more about what Lions do and this resonated with us and led to us being inducted into the club on the clubs 25th Birthday!

Q. What project or initiative are you most proud of?
A. I guess I am slightly biaised but I must go with our Sight Programne - the joy on someone's face when, with a simple pair of readers, they can read, knit and sew. Priceless!

Q. What is one value or lesson you've gained from being a Lion?
A. Ooh boy! Many lessons have been learnt! Perhaps, never judge a book by it's cover! Always take the time to find out a bit more before reacting to a problem or request.

Q. When you’re not volunteering, what do you like to do in your free time?
A. I love travelling. I also enjoy whatever opportunities I can get to have family time. And reading is my "me time."

Q. What advice would you give to someone thinking about joining our club?
A. Make sure your reasons for wanting to join Lions aligns with what being a Lion entails.

Q. If you could swap lives with any famous person for a day - who would it be and why?
A. I have thought long and hard about this one because I am not so sure I would like to swop with a famous person!!! There are many famous people who I admire, Sir David Attenborough is possibly the top of my list - but would I like to swop with him ??? Not so sure! There are many advantages, I guess, to being famous but then there are many disadvantages. So I think I would choose to be grateful for who I am and what I have - and admire the famous people from the sidelines!
