Today, kiters in South Africa and internationally flew in memorial of Brian "Briski" Skinner, kitemaker and flyer from Cape Town. He also attended our RE/MAX Garden Route Kite Festival some time ago.

He passed away recently, leaving a hole in the sky and in the community he was part of for well over 30 years.

To all who have attended the Cape Town International Kite Festival or Garden Route Kite Festival over the years, you will remember Brian "Briski" Skinner. Sadly, he recently passed away from cancer.

A farewell fly is being held in Cape Town today, Saturday 11th, at around 14h00 Central African Time (GMT +2).

Those of us who are far away and around the world who knew Briski are invited to put a kite up at around the same time in solidarity.

Equally sadly, Peter Lynn, one of the giants of the global kiting world, also passed on this week. Amongst many accomplishments, he invented the 3D inflatable kite - those giants that became staples of festivals across the globe.

As you remember Briski today, please give some moments to commemorate Peter.

From Dog dress up and agility show to huge kites being flown by international kiters.
Build a kite or bring your Kite along.
Partake in all the fun games and activities.
The will be music, food, and laughter 😃
