A massive thank you to Shawn, Giti, and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make today possible and for putting together such an incredible Zumbathon.

What an amazing experience it was. Being part of it reminded us once again that when people come together with love and compassion, there is no judgment — only support, encouragement, and kindness.

The atmosphere was filled with so much positivity and acceptance, and it meant the world to our family.

To each and every person who contributed, supported, donated, prayed, danced, and stood with us — thank you.

Your kindness and generosity mean more than words could ever express.

As parents, you always try your very best for your children, but nothing can truly prepare you for facing something like this. Knowing that we have such incredible people walking this journey with us gives us strength, hope, and comfort beyond measure.

Because of your love and support, Marinel is one step closer to receiving her cornea transplant, and for that we will be forever grateful.

We will definitely keep everyone updated on her progress and will share the surgery date as soon as it is confirmed.

As we are celebrating Easter, we just want to pause and say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

To every single person who has donated, shared our story, prayed for Marinel, or reached out with love — you have carried us through one of the most difficult seasons of our lives. Your kindness has reminded us daily that we are not alone.

PLEASE HELP US KEEP MARINEL’S LIGHT SHINING 🤍

Good day everyone,

There are moments in life that change you forever…
And for us, that moment was the day we realised our little girl might lose the chance to see the world the way she once did.

Marinel is only 13 years old.
Full of life. Full of dreams. Full of love.
A little girl who should be worrying about school, friends, and dancing — not hospitals, pain, and uncertainty.

As parents, nothing prepares you for this.
Nothing prepares you to watch your child fight battles you cannot fight for them.
Nothing prepares you to feel so helpless… and yet still have to be strong.

But in the middle of all this fear and uncertainty — YOU showed up.

To every single person who has donated, shared, prayed, or sent a message…
You became part of Marinel’s story.
You gave us hope when we felt like we were losing it.
You reminded us that even in the darkest moments, there is still light.

Good day everyone,

As parents, we never imagine the day we might have to ask others for help for our child. Yet here we are, doing everything we can for our beautiful daughter, Marinel.

The past years have been filled with hospital visits, uncertainty, prayers, and many emotional days. Watching your child face medical challenges is one of the hardest things a parent can go through. Some days feel overwhelming, but through it all we hold onto faith, hope, and the incredible kindness of people around us.

We are deeply grateful for every message, every prayer, every act of support we have received so far. Truly, from the bottom of our hearts — thank you. You have carried us when we felt weak and reminded us that we are not alone in this journey.

Soon we will need to travel to Cape Town again to see Dr Heydenrych, and while we remain hopeful, the road ahead is still long and the medical and travel costs continue to add up.

God is goed....

Dr is baie ter vrede met Marineltjie se vordering. Toe ons in 2023 die eerste keer by hom gekom het het sy net n paar vingertjies gesien en 5% sig gehad, vandag het Dr bevestig dat wonderwerke steeds gebeur...

Marineltjie se sig met die kontaklens het verbeter na 50%. Die senuwee srelsel in haar oog is baie sterk en gesond en Dr sê dis wonderlike nuus. Die lidteken op haar oog is ook baie minder sigbaar en dis alles n fantastiese teken dat die druppels wel help.

Ons wil vandag graag vir ieder en elke persoon wat ons bystaan met hierdie reis na genesing van Marineltjie se oog bedank vir al julle liefde, bydraes en omgee.

Ons is defnitief geseën met fantastiese mense in ons lewe.

Ons wil ook vir van Rooyen baie dankie se vir al haar harde werk agter die skerms. Calan, you are an amazing person, wife, friend and mommy. Thank you for everything.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to each and every individual who is supporting our daughter.

Every day brings us one step closer to our goal, but we still have a considerable distance to cover.

We have an early morning departure for Cape Town tomorrow to consult with Dr Heydenrych again.

Thank you to everyone that is helping us to help Marinel get the necessary treatment end care.
So many people don't even know her yet and are willing to support and we are so grateful for you.

Everyday and every donation is one step closer to the goal, but we still have a long way to go.

We need to go to Cape Town again on Monday to go for her follow up.
