Liane’ Roux Heart Fund In Memory of our Heart Warrior Liane' Calie Roux https://www.facebook.com/BabyLianeR/

Liane' Roux was born on the 25th May 2021 in Secunda.

She was not like a regular baby because she battled on a daily basis just to be able to breathe and get air into her tiny little body. Liane' was born with a faulty heart. On the 21st September 2021 Baby Liane' was diagnosed with Grade 5 Cardiac Systolic Murmur after showing signs of fever, difficulty breathing and tiredness. On the 27th of September Liane' was referred to a heart specialist at St

eve Biko hospital in South Afrcia. After seeing the specialist it was discovered that her conditions were a lot worse than anticipated. This 4 month old little girl had now been diagnosed with a VSD,DORV,TGA. VSD

A ventricular septal defect (VSD) is an opening in the interventricular septum, causing a shunt between ventricles. Large defects result in a significant left-to-right shunt and cause dyspnea with feeding and poor growth during infancy. A loud, harsh, holosystolic murmur at the lower left sternal border is common. Recurrent respiratory infections and heart failure may develop. DORV

Double outlet right ventricle (DORV) is a rare congenital heart defect, meaning it’s a condition a baby is born with. In DORV, the pulmonary artery and the aorta — the heart’s two major arteries — both connect to the right ventricle. In a normal heart, the pulmonary artery connects to the right ventricle, and the aorta connects to the left ventricle. DORV creates a problem because the right ventricle carries oxygen-poor blood, which then gets circulated in the body. TGA

In transposition of the great arteries (TGA), the “great” arteries, the aorta and the right ventricle, are reversed in their origins from the heart. The aorta is connected to the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery is connected to the left ventricle — exactly the opposite of a normal heart’s anatomy. TGA is a universal term that may

also be referred to as dextro-Transposition of the great arteries (d-TGA) and levo-transposition of the great arteries (l-TGA), otherwise known as congenitally corrected transposition of the greater arteries. Baby Liane' urgently needed open heart surgery but unlike some countries, in South Africa Medical costs come at a large price and are not free. Liane's dad Quintin was unable to work at the moment cause Liane' needed 24 hour wrap around care and monitoring. They did their best to keep her as comfortable as possible until they raised enough money to be able to afford surgery for their beautiful baby girl to get the help that she desperately needed. But most importantly a chance at life and a chance to be able to watch their little one grow up and make memories with her. Unfortunately just 3 days after Liane's surgery she passed away. This page will now be In Memory of our angel and all the CHD warriors out there. Let us support CHD warriors.
