Do you want to listen to some music that will touch your soul and inspire you to remember the past? Then you need to check out this amazing album by Kidibone Motlhasedi and the 437 choir.
This album is a tribute to the 437 miners who lost their lives in the Coalbrook mining disaster, the worst mining accident in the history of South Africa. On 21 January 1960, these brave men were trapped and killed by a massive collapse of coal pillars in the Coalbrook coal mine. Their families and friends never got to say goodbye or recover their bodies.
The album features 17 songs (3 songs available on all digital media and full album on hard copy for only R149) that capture the emotions, stories, and struggles of the miners and their loved ones. The songs are sung in a variety of languages, including Sesotho, Zulu, Xhosa, and English. The choir's voices are harmonious, passionate, and haunting. The music is a blend of traditional, gospel, and contemporary styles.
This album is more than just entertainment. It is a way of honoring the memory of the Coalbrook miners and raising awareness of the dangers and challenges that miners face every day. It is also a way of celebrating the resilience and solidarity of the South African people.
