24 September 2026 CFM in partnership with other local Stakeholders closed off a Heritage Day holiday with a Candle Light and Prayer service at the entrance of Zamdela next to Sannies garage, the aim of the gathering was first to stand in solidarity with the families of the 9 women whose bodies were discovered at Ekhurleni.
When Matshepo Kompe Mrs Sedibeng 2025 the organizers of last year purple shutdown called CFM to partner in organising the prayer service, Barbara Baisang the founder agreed on the spot in their discussion she confessed her fears and just how emotionally trained she felt
that ever since the discovery of these 9 bodies she felt triggered by seeing bodies lying in the street and realised that She could have been one of those women more than 30years ago when she was in the same situation as those women facing death when she was pointed with a gun by a stranger who took her to an open field to r**e her at night while she was a student at then Setlogolo Technikon,now Garankuwa Technikon of Technology exactly in the month of September.One thing both women agreed on was that women needed Men to lead in these fight, they both agreed that Men should call each other out,Men should be the one calling to God asking for his intervention and repenting for this atrocious acts of men in our society, immediately after the call the ball was rolling and other stakeholders became part of the conversation through a what's app group created solely for the activity.
Emphasis was made that this is not a PR exercise but a genuine cry from both women and men who believed It is Enough.
As anticipated the day came and we thank the Lord for the community members who sacrificed their holiday to show up, although the turn of men was not as expected but the Men who came knew exactly what they need to do and the program was practically run by Men with Aus Mampho from Fola Mosadi directing the program and Mme Zina Motsei from Older person Forum explaining the purpose of the day, Pastor Angie opened and blessed the service in prayer,
Hearing deep voices of encouraging with the word of God, calling on other men to stop abusing women, Male Social worker Pastor Fortune Ncube who is also Deputy Chairperson of CFM made a call to men to speak out ask for help and shared information about his own practice and the work that he do, Male speakers from different Stakeholders somehow gave is hope that there are men out there who are brave enough to say Not in our name ,Ntate Tauru Majoe led a Candle light service and he asked all the men who were present holding candles to stand together facing the women and pledging that they are assuring us in their hands we are safe and they are wall of fire to protect us. Pastor Ntlatseng was asked to pray and in his prayer he uttered words that made women cry " O nkotlelang" a quoting a question which was posed by the Lord Jesus Christ himself when he was slapped by the Roman soldiers while facing his crucifixion.
9 NJX Group taxi participated in the candle light each taxi represented the 9 bodies of the women who lost their lives and Mrs Sedibeng led this service by requesting each taxi to flash on and off as a symbol of a life which was on and yet ended up being turned off through GBVF a representative from NJX also a men spoke about the role they play as a company and brand in fighting GBVF in the community
