βοΈ Cold Weather Inbound - Gauteng
04 June 2026
Cold weather is expected to impact Gauteng from later today due to a cold front passing across the country, bringing significantly lower temperatures across the province.
As you take steps to stay warm, please do so safely:
β’ Keep heaters, candles, and open flames away from flammable items.
β’ Never leave heating appliances unattended.
β’ Ensure gas cylinders are properly closed when not in use and check fittings.
β’ Avoid overloading plugs and extension leads.
β’ Switch off and disconnect electrical appliances when not in use.
β’ Supervise children around heaters and open flames.
Motorists should also exercise caution. Snow has been reported in parts of the country and extremely low temperatures may result in icy or slippery road conditions, especially overnight and during early mornings. While no snow has been forecast for Gauteng, motorists should be alert for icy conditions in the province.
Stay safe, stay warm, and look out for vulnerable family members, neighbours and community members during this cold weather period.
Yours in Community Safety,
Gauteng Provincial JOC
