MAKE HEALTHY FOOD THE EASY CHOICE AT WORK! 👩🏽‍💻🍎

Healthy food choices shouldn’t stop when we arrive at work! 🌱 The workplace is an important food environment that can influence what we eat and drink throughout the day.

Here are a few ways workplaces can make a difference:
💧 Make water readily available and encourage water as the drink of choice.
🥪 Offer healthier meals and snacks at meetings, events and in workplace cafeterias.
🌾 Include traditional and indigenous foods in workplace meals and catering.
🤱 Support breastfeeding employees with breastfeeding-friendly spaces and time to express breastmilk.
💚 Promote health and well-being through a supportive workplace culture.
♻️ Reduce food waste by planning portions carefully and using leftovers where appropriate.
🍱 Make packed lunches easier by providing access to fridges and microwaves.
🍏 Encourage healthier vending options to make nutritious snacks and drinks more accessible.

Let’s work together to build healthier workplaces, healthier communities and a healthier South Africa! 🇿🇦

MAKE HEALTHY FOOD THE EASY CHOICE AT SCHOOLS AND ECD CENTRES! 🍎

Healthy eating habits start early! 🌱 Schools and Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres play an important role in shaping how children learn about, access and enjoy food.

Here are a few ways schools and ECD centres can make a difference:
🥦 Provide nutritious meals and snacks with vegetables, fruit, whole grains and protein-rich foods.
💧 Make water the drink of choice instead of sugary drinks.
🍱 Encourage healthy lunchboxes with affordable, nourishing options.
🌿 Support school food gardens to connect children with fresh food.
🍲 Celebrate indigenous and traditional foods through meals and nutrition education.
🚫 Limit unhealthy food and drink options and protect children from marketing of unhealthy products.
👧🏽 Teach healthy eating from an early age and involve parents and caregivers in building healthy habits.

💚 This National Nutrition Week, ask yourself: What can our school or ECD centre do to make healthy food the easy choice for children?

MAKE HEALTHY FOOD THE EASY CHOICE AT HOME! 🍎🏡

It doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Small, practical changes can make a big difference! 🌱

🥕 Plan your meals using what you already have at home.
🫘 Choose affordable, nutritious foods such as beans, lentils, seasonal fruit and vegetables, eggs and whole grains.
🌿 Grow your own food where possible, even if it’s just a few herbs or vegetables.
🍲 Celebrate traditional and indigenous foods in your family meals.
💧 Make water the family drink instead of sugary beverages.
🧂 Limit foods high in salt, sugar and unhealthy fats.
♻️ Reduce food waste by storing food safely, using leftovers and freezing what you can.

💚 This National Nutrition Week, ask yourself: What can I do to make healthy food the easy choice in my home?
