If there’s hope for a Clean South Africa, it’s in our children. πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦

Most of our volunteers were primary school kids, and they showed up with big hearts and lots of energy. They even convinced their parents to join the clean-up.

When children lead, communities follow.

On Saturday, 6 June 2026, we held a clean-up initiative inspired by the learners of Laerskool Akasia, in partnership with Environmental Warriors. These young children wanted to clean the area around their school and even convinced their parents to join them.

It was a powerful reminder that real change can start with our youngest citizens. If we want a cleaner South Africa, we must encourage and support the next generation of active citizens.

We are doing our part, but our hands are not enough.

The amount of waste trapped in our rivers and under bridges requires machinery and municipal support. We call on local municipalities to work with us so that together we can remove waste faster, prevent flooding, and protect our environment.

Once a windscreen is replaced. Ever wonder where it goes?

Windscreen glass is not ordinary waste. It cannot simply be dumped on open land or mixed with general garbage.

Vehicle windscreen glass is laminated safety glass, made with layers of glass and plastic bonded together. Because of this, it should be taken to:
β€’ Licensed recycling facilities
β€’ Approved landfill sites equipped to handle construction or automotive waste
β€’ Automotive glass recyclers who can separate and process the materials safely

When dumped illegally:
β€’ It becomes a serious safety hazard
β€’ It can injure people and animals
β€’ Small glass particles contaminate the soil
β€’ It creates environmental damage that lasts for years

What we found is deeply concerning. Large piles of windscreen glass dumped in an open area near a public road is unacceptable. This is not responsible disposal, it is environmental negligence.

Companies involved in automotive repairs, panel beating, or glass replacement have a responsibility to dispose of this waste correctly. Communities should not become dumping grounds for industrial waste.

South Africa deserves clean and safe spaces, not mountains of broken glass. πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦
