Be the Difference: Give the Gift of Warmth and Comfort

Over the past few years, the British Chamber of Business in Southern Africa, in partnership with the UK in South Africa, and our member companies have remained committed to supporting children and vulnerable communities in Ennerdale. Through these collaborative efforts, we have built meaningful momentum by providing blankets and other essential resources that bring comfort, dignity and practical support to those in need, while contributing to the long-term upliftment and sustainable development of the community.

Following the remarkable success of last year’s campaign, which resulted in the donation of 67 blankets, the British Chamber of Business in Southern Africa, together with the British High Commission, is pleased to launch the 2025 Blanket Drive in support of the Winnie Mabaso Foundation.

As part of our commitment to honouring Nelson Mandela Day on 18 July, we once again aim to collect at least 67 blankets in recognition of the 67 years Madiba dedicated to public service. These contributions will go towards providing warmth and comfort to vulnerable children and families during the winter season.

We would like to sincerely thank all members who supported last year’s initiative. Your generosity played an important role in making a meaningful difference within the community, and we are proud of the impact achieved through this collective effort.

We encourage all members to join us once again in supporting this important initiative and helping us continue to bring comfort, care and hope to those who need it most.

This Youth Day, the British Chamber of Business in Southern Africa recognises the emerging leaders who are helping to shape tomorrow’s economy.

It is an important moment to acknowledge the energy, talent, and resilience of young people across the region, and to reflect on the role that business, government, and civil society must collectively play in creating enabling environments where they can succeed.

Young professionals and entrepreneurs are already contributing to innovation, productivity, and growth across sectors. Their perspectives are essential to building more competitive, inclusive, and future-ready economies.

As we mark this day, we reaffirm the importance of investment in skills development, education, entrepreneurship, and pathways to meaningful employment. Sustainable growth depends on empowering the next generation not only to participate in the economy, but to lead it.

Happy Youth Day.
