Africa’s rise will not be built on sympathy, it will be built on strategy.

For far too long, the narrative around our continent has been framed through the lens of need. Yet the truth is far more powerful: Africa is not the recipient of global sustainability we are the source of it.

From our natural resources and youthful population to our cultural capital and innovation, Africa holds the building blocks for the world’s sustainable future. What is required is not pity, but partnership, policy alignment, and strategic leadership that positions Africa at the centre of global value chains.

The time for redefining the narrative is now. Africa is not waiting to be saved.
Africa is rising deliberately, strategically, and on its own terms.

🌍 Honouring International Mother Language Day 2026

This February, as the world celebrates International Mother Language Day, the Moleboheng Matli Foundation reflects on what it means for Africa. Language is the heartbeat of culture, identity, and learning.

As an African non-profit driving education development and literacy enhancement, we recognize that mother tongue literacy is critical for children and youth to thrive academically and stay connected to their heritage. It is a foundation for confidence, empowerment, and lifelong learning.

This month, we reaffirm our commitment to:
• Supporting literacy programs that respect African languages.
• Ensuring education initiatives build on cultural and linguistic roots.
• Amplifying African voices, stories, and knowledge to preserve our rich heritage.

Language is more than communication it is empowerment, identity, and a bridge to opportunity.

“As the 2026 academic year opens for tertiary students in South Africa, a strong voice from Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng challenges us: top marks don’t always tell the full story. Culture, access, and opportunity shape the journey, equally brilliant students can experience very different realities”

International Education Day | 24 January 2026

At the Moleboheng Matli Foundation, we believe education is not done for young people, but with them.
Today, we honour the power of youth in co-creating inclusive, transformative education that turns scars into stars.

Education is liberation. Education is legacy. Education is Africa’s future.

A nation stands in grief as schools reopen confronted by a pain that cannot be ignored.

The Moleboheng Matli Foundation extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, classmates, educators, and communities affected by the tragic loss of schoolchildren in the fatal accident in the Vaal–Vanderbijlpark area. No parent should bury a child. No classroom should return with empty desks. No community should carry such an avoidable wound.

This tragedy is a brutal reminder of the consequences of irresponsible driving and the unacceptable vulnerabilities within our school transport system. Children entrust their lives daily to adults, systems, and policies meant to protect them never to endanger them.

We therefore issue a firm and urgent call to the MEC for Transport in Gauteng:
Immediate regulation, enforcement, and governance of school transport services and school shuttle drivers must be prioritised. This includes strict compliance checks, licensing, roadworthiness, driver vetting, and continuous monitoring. Anything less is a failure of duty.

No child’s life is expendable.
No journey to school should be a gamble with death. Those entrusted with the care of our children must be held to the highest standard of responsibility.

MMF stands in solidarity with the bereaved and reaffirms its commitment to child safety, accountability, and the protection of life on our roads.

May the souls of the departed children rest in peace. May justice, reform, and decisive action follow swiftly.

Yesterday, we shared the why.
Today, we share the how.

As South Africa reflects during this Christmas season, the reality remains: thousands of children will return to school without proper school shoes, not because they lack potential, but because they lack access.

At the Moleboheng Matli Foundation (MMF), we believe every child deserves to walk to school with dignity, confidence, and pride.

🎄 SOLE MATES FOR BRIGHTER FUTURES
|

This Christmas Eve, as families gather to celebrate, millions of South African children will still walk to school without 👟 👞 🥿 on carrying shame no child should ever know.

At the Moleboheng Matli Foundation (MMF), we believe dignity begins with the basics.

🌱 Our Humble Beginning
In 2016, MMF launched a school backpack and shoe programme at Maokeng Primary School in Kroonstad — the hometown and alma mater of our founding Executive President. What began as a local act of compassion has grown into a national call to action.

✨ A Decade of Hope
Our vision is bold and urgent:
👣
1 million pairs of school shoes in 10 years
📍 Phase 1: 100,000 pairs by August 2026

This Christmas, we invite businesses, community leaders, manufacturers, government, civil society, and compassionate individuals to walk this journey with us.

Together, we can:
• Restore dignity
• Protect confidence
• Empower future leaders
• Help children walk proudly into their tomorrow

🎁 Give dignity this Christmas. One step can change a life.
