Today, the NYDA and the Department of Correctional Services officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Pretoria, Gauteng, marking the beginning of a partnership dedicated to empowering young people in conflict with the law through rehabilitation, skills development, and successful reintegration into society.
This partnership will deliver life skills development, entrepreneurship support, job preparedness, mental toughness training, and other youth development interventions that equip young offenders with the tools to build meaningful futures upon their release.
The signing also marks the official start of implementation, with a pilot Life Skills Training Programme launching at the Johannesburg Female Correctional Centre in Gauteng during Women's Month. Running from August to November 2026, the pilot will pave the way for expansion to other provinces.
